Great fishing and diving there, just ask Rodney Orr! He got hit twice by the "man in the grey suit"in that water.

Seriously its usually murky because of the closeness to the Russian River. I have dove there for nice abs but its kinda creepy and didn't feel comfortable because of the exposure.

I've never yakked there though, it should have fish.

Dude, what are the odds of us thinking about the same spot and posting the same question on the same day about the same place. :smt003
About the guy in the gray suit....we should stick North I guess :smt002

i know, great minds huh? yeah i was thinking about cutting the drive time and saving the seven buck parking fee, but i guess the parks system needs it more than i need to see the land lord, cameron

Hello,

Never fished it but visited it twice.

From the parking lot it's about 100 yds through overhead brush till the beach starts.  There are trails through it.  Then another 75 yds or so of sand to the water.  It  was too far for me to haul a kayak.

The first time I was there I saw two boats fishing very close in.  The second time, two guys setting up to fish.

Pretty rock on the north side.

The launch there is definetly doable. As for Rodney Orr I have met and talked to him a couple of times. I just dont dive with him thats all. :smt003 There is great structure just around the corner from that launch another deep cove and around that point is where I have stopped many times heading north in a boat and have caught nice big vermillions there and lings. Cameron if you want to do it sometime i am game. There is a service road on the left justy as you come into the parking lot that you can get your wheels around then go down the creekbed to the beach. The beach goes off to deep pretty fast so the break is in close.

Believe me you do not want to try to traverse the whole creek bed. It is very rocky as you near Hwy 1. If you go down the trail at the end/closest to the beach/ of the parking lot, the only hard part is where the trail crosses the creek. When I carted thru there I had to "help" the cart across the creek. Like Craig said I would recommend going North as I went South when I fished there and it wasn't as good as what Craig describes. Post up when you go and I will join you also. jim

My pickup truck was broken into a while back while I was surfing the russian rivermouth which is just south of russian gulch. They may not take the vehicle, just the contents. I lost my wallet, money, credit cards, id, and most importantly, my pants. Drove home in my tighty whiteys. :smt013
