Not an expert, but recently read the similar thread on abalone takes for multi day.  Think it comes down to the one term, "possession".  So, basically you can only have a 'take' in your 'possession' as the reg states.

Depend on what you're catching.  Some of them allow multi-day limits and some others have both daily limit and possession limit.

You need to fill out the declaration form and pay the $4.50 fee (form at link below)

Wow, that I did not know ;)  But... Guess for me it's never been an issue, since I don't think I have come close to a full stringer or limit yet  :smt005

Multi-day permits are only applicable to boats....boats which do not return to port during their multi-day trip. Heck, you can't even anchor your boat within 5 miles of the coast or some crap like that.
So the answer is no, you can't get a multi-day permit for kayak fishing. Of course, there might be ways to preserve more than your possession limit during a camp trip. For example, you could "gift" your Day 1 limit to your GF and then go catch your daily limit for Day 2. I'm just saying...for example.

haha, I'm imagining a 'scene' where you try and explain this to a ranger...

Would they count each fillet of you have filleted your catch??  I know you need to keep a skin patch to identify them.  But would they go through each baggie and count them?  Sure sounds like on the wrong day, some of them may go that far...

I wouldn't do the whole gift thing.

If a warden happens to stop you and your girlfriend and you have two limits of rockfish you better both have licenses.

I started kayak fishing to get away from most of you...

Yeah, sometimes (like with trout in certain places) the daily bag limit is 5 but the possession limit is 10. But that's strictly a freshwater thing.

Yes, they can look inside your cooler and count fillets to determine how many fish you have in possession.

As far as coastal camping + kayak fishing goes...this is legal. As long as you don't exceed your daily bag limit or have more than the possession limit.
Day 1 = catch 10 fish and gift them to your GF (they are now in her possession, even if she doesn't have a license)
Day 2 = catch 10 fish and keep them for yourself.

My understanding is that the person who received the "gift" doesn't need to have a fishing license or tags (in case of Abalone).

From the DFG Q&A website:

Question:

My husband and some friends and I were ice fishing in the Eastern Sierras the second day of the trout opener and we all caught some nice fish. As we were leaving the ice to return to our car, one of our friends who had a long drive ahead didn’t want to keep his fish and offered them to us. We already had our limits but he said, “You can have two limits in your possession so just say you caught mine yesterday.” We took the fish but didn’t feel right about it. Was this actually okay? (Mark S., Torrance)
Answer:

No, not the way you did it. While you both were allowed to catch a limit of trout on the opening day and another limit on the second day and then have two limits in possession, by accepting his fish like you did, you could have been cited. Here’s why …

Your friend was within his rights to gift you his fish, and you were within your rights to accept them. However, without proof that these fish were actually taken legally by another licensed angler, any game warden you might meet in the parking lot or along the way that you showed your fish to would determine that you and your husband were in possession of an overlimit.

To avoid a misunderstanding like this, the best way to have handled it would have been to ask the angler giving you his additional fish to write you a note clearly stating this. The note should contain the date, his name, address, telephone number and fishing license number so that the note and your story could be verified, if necessary. Otherwise, you would likely be cited for being in possession of too many fish.
