Lacking vital details, I'd say "try, try again..."

It was probably a case of changed plans and you didn't know the guys well enough to rate a phone call.  I wouldn't take it too personally if I were you.  Good luck on a future hookup.

Nope, never has that happened EVER before  :smt003

Like AK says, don't take it personally.  For the most part people on here aren't flakes, but do have family or other things that can get in the way of fishing.  Even the best laid out plans sometimes just dont work out, for what ever reason.

It's either that, or they found a better place to fish and didn't invite you!  :smt044 j/k

It happens, no biggie.  WX reports, fishing reports, responsibilities at home....alot of stuff can change before the day arrives. Next time get a phone number and give em a call.

Call SCAllen......he won't stand you up.  :smt001

Maybe it wasn't your decision.   :smt002 J/K man.  I've fished with lotsa people and still get shelled all the time on the hookups, no big thing.  Plus there are a ton of quality events this summer where your sure to meet people.

One thing though (and this is only my view) is that newbies tend to test the patience with the unending questions and limited yakfishing competence.  Having a very limited time to fish, when I get out there, I want to fish and paddle HARD.  it can get a little cumbersome tending to someone's rookie needs.  I have no idea how you presented yourself, and don't know if that was part of it at all.

I'm just sayin'...

With all that, give it another shot on the hookups and don't get too worked up about it.  Maybe this time, though, go with the more subtle plastic tipped with squid instead of yo yoing an huge iron jig, ya' feel me?

Newb,
Another good approach is to arrange to meet on a specified VHF channel like #69.  If I'm ready to launch, I usually put in when ready and meet the crew on the water.  Nobody likes to hang around at the ramp.  Could the guys you were going to meet already be out on the water fishing?

1. don't do anything unsafe, like go out alone, if you don't know your stuff. (judgement call).

2. don't take it personally, lots of things can cancel a trip without notice.

3. definitely try again....

Don't worry man. That happens to my fishing buddies all the time. Just ask them how many times that Sin Coast jerk has flaked out.

If three of four ppl say they will be there...at least one will show. Most of us don't have each others cell (should we look to add that to the profile section?) Mu only advice would be to check the hook up section right before you take off in the AM to make sure ppl didn't have to bail at the last minute.

This thread is a perfect example of what yakuza was saying, and a total waste of time to read.  :smt012 Sorry to be blunt, but the question was misleading, and you'd be better off worrying about other things.  Like what sort of safety procedures you need to take to be safe on the water, or maybe what you need to catch the species of fish you're targeting.  Don't waste time worrying about "what-ifs" unless they're worth worrying about.  Just go fishing.

Usagi Sir,
I apologize if I waste your time! To us newbies has a lot of "What ifs" since we are lacking on experience on Ocean, yes I am attending seminars unfortunately this thing are not being taught, I am going out this weekend to learn learn from a guide, and yes your right this might be a waste of time on your end but to me as newbie this are valuable information (we are all newbie at one point) we always want more informations, we always takes things one step ahead, theres always a what ifs in life, the general rule in practicing safety is expect the worse case scenario, no pun intended and it was never my intention in anyway to misled anyone!! I love this site coz of all the knowledge you can gain from everyone's perspective, this are worth worrying on my end!! Thank you,

It depends on the location and how much safety equipment you have.

I would practice paddling and playing around in the kayak in a lake or whatever before fishing on it.
