Just remembered that I didn't tell the story of the Super Man Rod!!!   :smt044

For those of you that don't know, Frankfishing gave out Barbie, Superman, Spiderman and Batman rods at LDVFNC for a funny as hell fishing tourney!  :smt005

I took mine and upgraded it  :smt004 with a broken handled 2-Piece trout rod I had in the garage:  http://www.norcalkayakanglers.com/index.php/topic,17688.0.html

Decided to take it out on Friday and the plan was when the fishing turned hot to switch to the SuperManRod for the hell of it.  I tossed it out a few times with a white scampi on a leadhead a few times, and then switched it out for a white with orange squiggly thing and tossed it a few more times before giving it up.

I reach back, and slip the rod into one of my rod holders and hear a "click->splash" and see that the button depressed when I put it in the holder and the lure went over board.  I reach back and grab the rod and feel a sharp tug on the line!!!   :smt007

I give it ONE good pull to set the hook and the thing breaks in half!  :smt005 I'm trying to still crank on the handle, but I give another couple tugs and the fish is gone... :smt010

Was still TOTALLY worth it  :smt002

P.S. Anyone have a broken uglystick I can have?  :smt044

Cool CD BAJOTAD. I finally had a chance to listen to it. You guys are pretty good.
Hey trophy 1, thanks again bro for lending me your cell phone to call my family. It
was a big treat to hear their voices after a few days being away from them. The
AT&T\Cingular does not work up there.
Andy, please thank your cousin for the awesome work on the T-shirt and thanks
to you as well for the sea urchin you picked up for me. What a nice treat bro. The
carnitas that I have been waiting for was worth the wait. Good job bro.
MattS, dude, that club I got from you came in handy big time for all the big fish
that came up on the kayak.
Ariel my brother, thanks for cooking all the great meal. I copied the salsa you made for us at SC to my sisters house. They all love it.
Thanks again for the Garmin GPS and to all that have taken some great pictures
and video.
Congrats once more for a job well done Eric(AbKing). If it wasn't for you, I wouldn't have made any new friends. Of course, it was always fun hanging out
with my regular crew. Phil(norther boy), Lisa(Mlady), Ariel Sea and more. Sorry I
can't think anymore names, so tired! I got carried away making new leaders for
this Saturday for Paradise. I have been meaning to list names of people I wanted
to thank so if I'd missed anyone, Thank you to ALL.

Here's a video.

I had so much footage, it turns out, that I had to make a choice about what to use and what to cut - I went with basically all OTW clips.  I ended up with lots of good stuff on the cutting room floor, and Domenic had a good suggestion - I'll use all the on-shore scenes for GS4 teaser videos later.   :smt002

Eric - very nice video as always.

Here is the rest of my report...

Saturday Met Etienne at the launch around 530AM. We decided to split up and I targeted shallow water near the bell buoy and Etienne went deep north of the whistle buoy. Absolutely nothing happening at the whistle buoy so I headed north to the deep water. Eventually ran into the pacific fleet of yakkers fishing in 80-100 FOW off of the light house. Scratched out a half dozen rockies with really chunky blacks. Decided to fish shallower so I split off from the pack and targeted 50-75 FOW near the whistle buoy. Hooked a 28" ling on a custom green thrasher and had a 32-34" ling follow it all the way to the surface.  :smt007 Called it in on the VHF and the pacific fleet was soon there with Abman in the lead. When Abman pulled up on the spot, I told him to drop there and he pulled out two 30+" lings before I had time to reset my drift.  :smt005 Swell picked up at 930 so I headed in.

Sunday Headed home and picked a chainsaw bear at "confusion hill" then decided to take the scenic route down highway 1 through Mendocino. Although the scenery was nice, it added 1.5-2 hours to the trip.  :smt013 What a great trip. May head back up in August.  :smt006 I attached a picture of the thrasher in case people wanted to know what it looks like. It has been a very productive lure for me but as we all know, a banana peel probably works just as well.  :smt044

Nice job on the lures Scott. I have been thinking all week long of how I
can make my own too. With the big target on my back, I need to be a
step ahead. LOL :smt044

Awesome vid, Abking!

Good lookin' lures, GB2.
For a something quick & cheap, esp for your dropper loop, a shrimp fly with a light-colored hoochie on the hook drives the rockies crazy - the blackies couldn't leave it alone at SC.

Also, I just remembered I picked up a couple things left at the campsite: a "Pedaler" water bottle and a big swim bait still in its pkg. I'll post pics later & bring to Paradise tomorrow in case they belong to anyone...
