Got RIF'd today.  Boss flew out from Dallas with his manager and an unknown person, turns out it was an HR rep.  Bad news for me as I stepped into a conference room thinking I was getting a review! :smt013
May 15th is my last day at a company I've been with now 9yrs.  Never saw this comming with all the tool installs we have in progress.
That all.

Oh man Troy... I'm so sorry to hear that  :smt009  Seems many of my friends are in this same boat these days.   I had a rough 5-6 years where I ended up in over 10 jobs due to layoffs, cutbacks, contracts and corporate scandals.  We have already had layoffs at work (and they say we are due for more...)

Hang in there man!

Sorry to hear that.

Friday is our day here at my work. Over half of the production folks I work with will be getting laid off that day, the rest will stay 'til the end of June or so. Nobody really knows who is going or staying until Friday morning when they get their envelope. Sucks ass.

I got lucky and landed a job in a different department. So I'm safe. For now...

Again, sorry about your situation.

I started kayak fishing to get away from most of you...

I think we should have a RIF'd day on the water. I work in HR and have been on both sides os the RIF. In Jan I was again on the receiving end!

"Misery loves company" isn't that the saying?  Thanks all, IT REALLY sucks that we have to go this.  To all you in the same boat, I'm sorry to hear it as well.

Things will get better, though.

I know how you feel.  Been out of work since early this year.  This is my first layoff after 25 years working in the high tech industries.  Hang in there, things will get better toward the 2nd half of the year.

Sorry Troy.  If they have to let you go, it would be nice if they have the courtesy to do it right.  I've heard of too many people like you called in for a "review" or "new project to discuss" only to get the heave ho.

We are working 4 days a week, and laid off a couple others just last week...  Things are tough everywhere, but it can't go on forever.
