Meet up with some of my most favorite people today. Met Ebeyje*&@%..(Phil) @ around O six oclock in the` lot @mbk. Soon to follow was my boy Alain.. a.k.a Alshobieoutback. Soon after that Hoppy, Monsterguppy,Stoogie, yackhoper, and Ben all make apperiances on the water. ( Not in that order ).Very long storie short I slept for most of the morning on the yak in about seventy foot of water bouncing A live smelt to no avail! What A glorious day. ( Except the chumming part). Cant wait till the first. had A great shore lunch with the gang....Thanks to everyone that pitched in! Food was great. No pics just lots of memories.....Oh ya the only other fish that was caught was from my son Andrew. He caught two nice sized smelt. They would have taken first place if there was A tourney.Did I mention that it was as hot as A pistol?

I'm sure you were more comfortable on the water in that heat than everyone on land.

Good hookup and awesome grub is what it's all about. The fish is just an
icing on the cake. Did I say that right? Anyhow, I'm sure it was still a
blast.

Kris got his 1st yak fish earlier this year and now Andrew got his first yak fish too?! Very nice!
I guess you found a kayak big enough for that kid.

Great hook-up guys,
It was nice to meet some old and new members and put names to faces.
Couldn't ask for better weather and the food was great.
Thanks again for the bait FM1
Hope to join you all again on the water soon

It was a beauty of a day, as Stoggie would say!  Perfect morning with little to no wind or swells.  Got to try out my new T15 for its maiden voyage and it was a sweet ride!  Time to start the pimping for the rock fish season!

Ran into a school of bait fish about three times, but for lack of preparation I didn't have a sabiki ready in time so didn't get any live bait.  Think I may be getting a sabiki rod someday soon.

I paddled out to the yellow can and then tried to bottom bounce with flasher a Popsicle to the Hotel.  Drifted some more anchovies for a couple hours around the hotel area and hooked into something that we guess are squid eggs?  Looked like white tentacles or jellyfish fingers but filled with eggs.

When the wind came up, paddled back to shore stopping at some kelp beds.  Saw a spider crab hanging in there and tried to get an underwater video but he wasn't having it and disappeared into the deep. Saw some awesome colored sea snails, and took a pic or two of them.

It was very low visibility, unlike the last time we were there when you could see 20ft when paddling out from the shore. It may have been the southern swell?  I don't know myself, but have heard that before that it can mess up fishing.

Thanks to all that joined, it was a blast hanging on the beach scarfing down mandogs, fried chicken and corn on the cob.  I cant wait for the opener!  We are going to have a great time this year!

Not much to add from everyone else's post.

We combed the water about 10 of us from 30 ft deep to 70 ft. We used every imaginable setup from sabikis for the bait (not there) to hali rigs, lead heads in various colors, popsickles, squid, shrimp, everything.
It almost was methodical, we were spaced evenly in rows of three or four and worked across the area.

We made a long trek east from MBK past the hotels and back.

If there was a fish out there, you would have thought we would have seen it.

The best part is when you go out with these guys, you always have a great day.
None better  anywhere.
At least on the water it is cooler than dry land.
Awesome hookup as always.

Can't wait till rockfish opens...man oh man I can't wait.

What a GREAT DAY! Launched into perfect water conditions, paddled out to meet up with the crew. Woke up Fishmaster, looked like he was recovering from a late night :drool2 Lots of fishin going on but not much catchin. As Stoggie said, we covered the area pretty good with no love. The shore lunch is the bomb. Great bunch we have here. Looking forward to hooking up on the opener.

I got in late Sat. and watched the lack of action from my deck Sun. AM with binos and a spotting scope.. You guys looked like you were having fun but I didn't see much net action. If you thought Sun. was nice you should have seen today. HOT! Tiny swell & No Wind. The Hali's are going to turn on here pretty soon. I should have came down and harrassed the shore lunch and met you guys but I was honey do'in.  Cheers  hoagie
