Frickenfrack!
I just got b-slapped by my boss for requesting 5/1 off. I'm taking a week off work (4/13-17) for a family vacation....and it will exhaust all of my accrued vacation hours. So if I want to take 5/1 off it will be unpaid vacation and I'd lose like 200 bucks. Tough choice.

You could always crash at my house, Al. We've got an extra room.

I would like to joint the team. I just bought my Scrambler XT a month ago. I believed I have everything necessary for fishing but I do not have a fish finder or GPS. That is the reason why I want to stay with a group. It will be great if anyone want to guide for what I need for that fishing day.

Welcome Barranco!!!  Stillwater is a great place for newbies to launch and learn.  There is a MLPA zone that cannot be fished, and you need a GPS to find the boundary.  So it is a good idea to head out with a group to avoid it.  A few of us have GPS's and will have them programmed for the boundry.  We generally fish just north of it btw.

If you haven't already, go get a VHF and skip on the FF/GPS for now.

Let me know if you need directions to the launch, its gonna be a long drive from Hayward though!

Due to the lack of parking near the launch, I recommend that we try to car pool as much as possible.
The guys at the fitness center for Pebble Beach ar ealways busting our balls about taking too much parking.

With the seemingly rabid responses to the opener in Still Water, it may pay dividends to keep the PB people appeased.

If anyone wants to car pool from the Sc or Aptos areas, I would entertain loading two extra yaks on my truck and going down. I have a full size quad cab pickup that could easily haul 3 guys and their yaks and gear. I have tye downs and could make it work.

I plan on going for the opening weekend both Friday and Saturday, but will not go on Sunday, as I will need some downtime.

Let me know if you are interested.

Stoggie

Stoggie has a good point. We need to minimize the amount of traffic to keep the Pebble folks happy. Please carpool if possible. Plus, there are only about 8-10 legal parking spots at Stillwater to begin with. I might just launch from another location and paddle to Stillwater or something.

We have been parking right next to the launch area, but I have been told to unload and move to the far side of the parking lot. Our area for parking according to the guy at the center is the farthest from the launch area on the north side of the lot.
Not sure if he is correct, but I will unload at the beach and move to a spot away from the launch from now on to keep him off my back.

I always park over in the "overflow" lot even if I can take the front spots.  Its not that far, and I haven't been harassed when loading and unloading gear by the pier.  But yeah, I do remember the parking kid getting a bit snotty with Stoggie last year, but it wasn't really called for.  Think his boss just said go clear out some more parking, cause they were really full that day.
