Was a great day!!! My first time on a kayak. Had a great time. I met up with Andy around 6AM and we all made our way to Monterey. (I did have to run back home to get my bait I forgot) There was 8 of us total out there I think. Once we got out on the water it was easy. Water was very calm and weather was nice. My big game is slower moving than I thought it would be. The fishing was just as fun as I knew it would be. I couldn't have asked for a better group of guys! Thank you all! Now don't get any big heads. (I"m going to tell my wife you all were a bunch of low life, trailer trash, bottom feeders! She'll say that was good. Now I would have guys to look up to) The fishing was good. I got a few dabs and mackerels. I also learned how to get my lines tangled while trolling. That sure wasted some time. But another lesson. Coming in was slow but my shoulder held up. Andy cooked up a load of goodies. lots of food and laughs on the beach. I didn't take the camera with me so I have no pics to share. Now that I have my feet wet I guess I will feel better about bringing more toys and a camera. I promise next time I'll have pics. I had to head back early so I could do meds on my dad and his dog. The rest of the guys have pic and will post soon. It was a good day with good people! Thank you all. I hope to meet more of you in the days and weeks ahead. I will be dreaming of the season opening tonight.

Awesome, awesome day

Phillip looked like a pro out there for a new.
Kristopher did an awesome job keeping up and I think caught the first fish!

Alshobieoutback was as always a great companion on the water and caught the biggest dabs ( and the smallest). Rick was back to his old fishing weight after the long pregnacy congrats on the daughter.

The fishing was a blast especially the 5 blue rockfish on all 5 sabiki hooks at once!
The verm I caught on the same lightweight rig with 8 on test was fun.

I am going to take some lightweight stuff when rockfish opens. It is so much more fun to hook a pig on that instead of the meat sticks we ususaal take out there.

A special thanks to andy fir the legendary beach cookout after.
You da man

Looking forward to many trips with you all

Got a late start to the day but had a great time once we were on the water. Launched from San Carlos. Caught a couple dabs and macs. Planned on making the shore lunch but made the mistake of swinging by the house to change before going to MBK, wife had other plans :smt012. Won't miss the next one though :smt003. Here's a few photos from the water
