Fished one of our local Sacto ponds this morning. On the water 9:30am, off 12:15pm.
Weather was nice, no wind and overcast. When I arrived at my usual launch area I was surprised to
see 8 or 9 trucks there and 'toons being set up. One of the local fly fishing clubs was having an event there today.

I set up and hit the water. Headed to one of my favorite spots and started throwing senkos.
Got a couple hits, then caught my first fish for 2009. A nice fat 18" LMB. Took pics and put her back in the water. My second catch arrived about an hour later. This was a nice 15" LMB.

That's it. I was happy to catch two fish. Better than the skunks I've got on my previous outings.

Here's some pics:

I did. They were targeting the trout and that was very slow.

Those are nice fish.

Are you using worm hooks (weedless) or wacky for the senko's?

Looked warm and dry too!

I used a 4" Watermelon Senko, weedless Texas rig. No weights.

Alfredo.....immediately in back of the California State Fairgrounds I've seen what looks to be a slough area.....wondered about it's fishability, whether anyplace is deep enough to be both kayakable and fishable.

D'u know?

IF there was good water and fish
And IF (during the off-season) the Fairgrounds People would let you drive your car back to the RaceTrack building, park and carry over and down from the levee there.....it could be a very sweet setup.
