launched at bullhead flat about 9am.  lots of boats and kayaks out.  i fished beside jason and mike a half mile out from rat rock.  between the three of us we caught a bullhead, flounder and leopard shark.  after they left i was getting very bored so i called my brother who lives in maine.  i was telling him how warm and calm it is in california, to bad he lives in the snow :smt003, then i got a pump, i shouted "i got one, it is jumping, i will call you back!"   a few jumps and and a few minutes later i landed a 46" sturgeon. released
lots of mud on way back in
10 ft, outgoing, herring and ghost, bit the herring
i will post pics later

Did you launch at China Camp? We fished all day 1 mile out from CC. What time did you catch your fish. We diddn't hear any hootin and hollerin'. Congrats. We had  a slowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww. day. But alot of fun with good weather a smokin' out go and good water, just no sturgeon love.

The mud was so much fun. Pushing the boats through 50 yards of foot suckin' goo. No one fell down. We all just laughed through it all. Adam gave his kayak a very loving bath back at CC.

good job ...

we stopped near the meadow club at the beginning of our sufferfest, and i could just barely see the boats out there...made me wonder (as did nearly all the rest of the day) if i made the right decision to ride vs fish

Nice fish. I am glad someone hooked up with something other than bullheads and sharks and rays. WE saw Jason and Mike at CC. Man was that tide rippin' or what? Its a good thing it was flat and not too windy or we would have had areal cowboy ride. Were the pelicans diving up towards you guys also? They made a couple of dives down by us but then moved up to you guys.Is your rod holder too far up to reach comfortably? I need to mount one on the kayak and noticed yours up front, to the left. Thanks, Craig

Man that currant was WHIPPIN! I know Rat Rock must have been interesting with the bottom contours there.
