Nothing, they are just giving me samples for us to use to see if it gets you hooked enough to start buying their product. I will have their version of gatoraid that you mix in water and probably some of the gel packs for us to take on the water.

Right on!  Any chance of getting someone like, say, Hobie or OK to sponsor?!   :smt003

No Guarantees, but I'm going to hit up West Marine, and Wheel Ezzz owes me a Favor.... :smt002

Cool if you can donate something, Don.    :smt001

Matt - I like the idea of variety of fish too, but I don't want to encourage the bonking of a fish that would normally get released (since we'll be pretty shallow in general and some may not want to keep greenling, china, olive, gopher...)  So I think the tournee format will be geared more toward biggest overall fish, biggest of species for cab, ling, red, black...whatever we want, variety of species caught, most fish released?  We have to think it out...

Thats true, I didn't think of that.  You could always put in that the variety fish bag can be CPR submitted.  That way is saves some of the impact on the lesser species.

I voted for the MBF format, but even an option of a keep or don't keep tourney may work.  You can keep a fish and get it measured, or submit a photo; longest fish wins?  It would allow anglers to keep a few fish to eat, but may reduce some impact with that many yakers in one area.  I am not sure how most these tourneys go, just throwing out some ideas.

AbMan, AbWoman and AbChild were just confirmed in site #77 with full hookups, not to far from the row of tent sites that will be all NCKA.

We'll be there on Thurday afternoon for check in and I'll be looking for a dive buddy for a Friday first light Yak or Shore Ab dive.

ONE TOURNEY OPTION>>>>>
I like MBF format with Big Ling by lenght takes all and the other donated prizes go in a raffle for all whom enter.  You must be present to win requirment and you pick your donated prize off a prize table right after the raffle ticket is called.

That sounds cool.  So is it $10/ea?  $20?  It makes a difference based on numbers participating.  30 of us kicking down $20 apiece sounds alot more interesting if more than top fish gets in the money.  I'd say on a scale like I've suggested, top fish would get $300, other prizes would get the other $300 divied up. and then we'd do the free shtuff...  with all included...?

These are the discussions we need to have to figure a good format for the tournee, as "informal" as it is...   :smt001

I like that alot, Matt.  We need an option of no take for our tournee.  That's actually part of the inspiration behind the Hawg Trough Extension.  If a big lingcod is caught I hope that lucky angler has the opportunity to handle the fish and get the photos before letting it go, but that's not an easy task...

As for me, you hit it on the head, I hope to make my entries all electronic!   :smt004  And I hope to keep a few nice fish for some clean fillets.   :smt007

I'll be paddling my speedy but fishable FG Sea-kayak and roving continuously around with a high power telephoto lens to capture pics of our group on the water. I'll have a computer there to download pics and highly encourage folks to catch, photo, and release. IMHO fishing for a money purse or even pride would detract from the uniqueness of this event. The original spirit of it was meant to come out in nature, paddle around with some bros and spend as much quality time off the water as on. The fishing end was just an excuse for what I would term "Deep Unwinding". I'm not opposed at all to competitions but isn't that what the AOTY is for. This is just my two cents. "Fun" is the ultimate goal and there will be no limits on that.

Word.  The main thing is the gathering, meeting new friends, the potluck, family time...  but the MBF is looked forward to by many, and I don't think it takes away from the event.  Especially when I win it by releasing a 20# ling...

Should I bring a paddle board out for the event?
Paddleboard + beer :smt044 = fun for everyone watching  :smt003

Greg you should bring it out, it will be fun for people to try. I will be bringing mine out also if I have leftover room in the truck.

Greg would you guys happen to have '09/'10 WS Tarpon 160 demo model to try out at SC???? Curious to see what they did different and if it paddles any different than the T160i or T160 DH.

Yes, definitely bring your paddleboard.  Last year I saw several guys paddleboard surfing at the beach close to the boat launch and they're having fun.
