Made bait at Alameda today then met with Yakaroo @ OAP. Joe "Yakaroo" was already on the water parked near aluminum boat posse, their were about 8 or 9 of those dudes out today. Met up with Yakaroo hungout at that spot for a bit till I got annoyed of the aluminumpoacherposse.

Brought Yakaroo up north towards the Alameda ferry dock. I've meter a few nice deep holes in that area last week and even hooked a fish that broke off near the surface but never saw it. Figured we'd give it a try.

Hour later I had a few taps in about 11 feet of water swung on it but nothing on the other end. 15mins after that Yakaroo gets a couple taps swings and misses. Yakaroo reels up re-baits with some lively ghosties, sends it back down and WHAM he gets hit. Fish goes ballistic whips his yak around at the same time Yakaroo is pulling anchor. Fish starts pulling then BOOM STURGEON JUMPS OUT OF THE WATER right in front of me. It was so cool
seeing the fish leaps its whole body out of the water. I drop anchor and follow Yakaroo to back him up if need. Fish dragged him back towards the white bouys spins him around a couple times and finally gets to the surface. Yakaroo snares the fish grabs it pops it up on his laps we measure it to make sure its over 46". Fish is well over the 46" mark and Yakaroo strings it up. Highfives are exchanged.

We get back to our anchors bait up and send em back to the drink. Aluminumpoacherposse start their engines and gun it our direction. We stick around for 30mins and call it a day. We get to shore and fish measured in at 51".

The water was calm and beautiful another gorgeous day to be had. Cool thing is this is Yakaroo's 3rd time on a yak and he is 2 for 2 on sturgeons.

GOOD JOB BUDDY!

Yakaroo will be posting up pics soon

Great report of the excitement on the water.  Way to go, Yakaroo and Ariel.  It's a team effort out there, so you get some credit too, Ariel!   :smt001

I couldn't have said it better; excellent play by play report, Ariel.

Abking and everyone else are correct, it was definitely a team effort. Without Ariel's lively ghosties fresh from the beach, I would have got nothing with the mussels I pryed off the rocks. Without his expert guidance, I could have gone overboard. That was one strong fish! It gave me quite a sleigh ride. The one from Tuesday only took me around on a merry-go-ride. Thank you Ariel, for your fresh ghosties and assistance in landing the dino.

I'll see some of you on Sunday.
