Sean and I would like to donate all the proceeds from the Mendo tourney to American Red Cross Katrina relief. Before donating your entry fees we wanted to make sure everyone agreed. If you are going to enter the tournament please vote.

For a good idea on what is going on down there, from someone who is there listen to this:

Are you suggesting the money be donated to the American Red Cross?

Or was there another organization in mind?

I think it's a good idea, but I'd want to know what organization.

Check the following website for to see the Better Business Bureau's website for evaluating various charities involved in Hurricane Relief.

Yep, the Cross.  They always seem to be there, and as of right now they seem to be doing a better job than anyone.  After watching the news, this just seemed like a great way for us to do some good while having a good time.

While this would mean fore going major prizes, I think being out here while they are suffering is a good enough for me.

I agree to donate to the Hurricane Relief / American Red Cross.

I will also donate some fishing items to the raffle.

Coastside # 2 - has donated a box of goodies as well.

Hey Sean... didn't that one EBay tackle store send $50 grab bag of tackle that never arrived in time for the Elk tourney?  Did you ever get that package?

On the other hand.........................
I have made numerous donations and worked on the response to Katrina.  The red cross is a favorite of mine as well.  But, our "battle" for our future fishing rights will not be getting support from those outside of our community.  If money can provide improved lobbying efforts to defend and maybe even enhance (to what the divers have) our fishing opportunities, I would be happier to see these dollars work towards that.
Regardless of where this great community elects to have our entry dollars go, I look forward to the weekend with you all....... :smt007

We could try to do a raffle instead to raise some more money for Coastside. Might be tough on short notice though.

Erik:

I do have the second box.  I feel if we do a raffle i would like to leave some money with the folks that support this fishery, the Striped Bass Assoc.  I would be will  to kick in some stuff for the raffle.

I'm good with entry money going to Katrina relief.

If we hold a raffle for Coastside, I can donate a factory reconditioned, Abu 5600 C3 I just bought and haven't used.

I am always done for another sweet shirt and swimbaits for the raffle. How does a 50/50 split coastside and SBA?
