Forebay 11/16/08

Well I could not get going this morning so Mooch and I decided to try the evening bite. We launched around 4:00 and I trolled down to the corner of the rockwall and back for nada. All the weeds are gone so my standard tactic of trolling the weed line was out. I trolled back towards the launch where we had seen tons of bait when we launched. As soon as the sun went behind the hills we heard boils. Not a big boil but lots of one fish and two fish boils. I threw everything I had but no luck. Some crazy guy on a surfboard came by and did this...

So the bite only lasted for 10 minutes or so. I heard the morning bite is pretty good as well. If you are in the area now would be a good time to hit it.

Too bad for Joel that NCSPA.org is already taken (National Corrugated Steel Pipe Association) otherwise the whole NorCal Paddle Surf Anglers craze might actually have taken off.

Nice to see Papa getting out!  High 5 too Mooching for the stand-up fish.  That can't be ez.

I had plans to go on Friday but the wind came up here in San Jose so we canceled the trip.
I here the bite has been real good out there.

Congrats on you first board fish Joel, the last time we talked you said you where going to try fishing off that thing. that definitely takes some talent I still think it need a seat .

Yeah thanks guys, it felt great to be back on the water. I am going to try to hit it a few more times before the end of the year. Waking up early is getting harder and harder though. I migh th ave to go Brain G. Lodi style pretty soon.

Thanks for the report Bill. That SUP might be ideal for sight-casting flies Mooch. Because standing up in my T140 is not as easy as the guy on their website makes it look LOL!
And, yeah, getting up early is WAAAY overrated. At least you've got a valid excuse.

Well, it was truly nice to see papa Bill on the water again!! I miss my Island Brother (Bill claims he was born in Guam...thus making him an "Islander" )
