Anybody getting ready for crab season. I may be doing a crab drop 11/1 weather and swell permitting. Considering Half Moon Bay or north. Brush up by reading the article by ChuckE. We get two weeks before the commercial boats take everything.

I'm ready, weather permitting! Man, it's right around the corner!
I plan on cracking shells the night of 11/1.
If you don't know where you're headed, any road could get you there.

This afternoon I installed a crab davit on my yak.  It's made by Scotty and works great--I think I can pull up Davey Jones locker with this thing.  I secured it with a metal plate on the underside, on the topside I layered with felt and rubber gasquet.  I bought it through Hook1, think  I paid $29.00 for it?  Crabs for sure!! :smt045

i am going to drop a couple of crab traps, go rockfishing for about 3 hrs and pick them up on the way back in.
i am thinking about dropping the traps in the south area of the rockwall and paddle north for rockfishing.

I don't have traps but I have a Cobra triple that will carry bunches of traps. I have gps to mark the locations, vhf radio and plenty of fishing gear.

Good Times coming up for yak-crabbers!   :smt001

I try to start the season at midnight down at the mouth of the Eel.  Our season usually starts on the last Saturday in November, but I saw talk of making the entire north coast an 11/1 opener - I've enquired with DFG about it and should know soon.  If it's open here 11/1 I'll try to go at midnight - Timojam, you up for it?
