Heck yeah, even with the nasty wind we had a good time!  Thanks for sharing the spot with me, and Fishmaster, your rockfish tacos were off the hook.  The Guppy Marinated Chicken was killer, too.  A belly full of warm food and cold beer gave me the courage to face the wind gods again.

It was good to land a striper finally, (even if it was a shorty), after no luck at Mendo.  That's a great little spot, and way closer than I imagined.

Fine work you guys, I saw the north winds forecast and I figured you'd never even get in the water.

Nice job on the striper Andy. That is a solid fish.
Wish I could've joined you guys. I was stuck at home with a sick wife+kid. But I built up some WAF by taking care of them. Hope to cash in those points soon and catch my own striper!

Nice report and pics. Bravo for getting out there in the weather--Zeelander in Seattle knows all about that ;-)

Forebay winds calm down this time of year: Oct-Dec is the time to hit it if you don't mind hearing the shotguns of the waterfowl opener starting this weekend at Kesterson. Nothing but a little rain of pellets here and there ;-) I am an Upland Bird guy myself--rather torture myself in the long cold days in a kayak than the long cold days in a duck blind ;-) but that's personal choice.

Looks like you fished the inlet at the 152 bridge--good fishing in the channel there running all the way to check 13 until the evening when they move to the shallows to hit the Threadfin if the surface if it is calm--if its is windy the Threadfin dive deep and the Stripers don't boil and chase them below instead.

Marmot is alive!

This is the best time to hit the Forebay, I think I am heading there Saturday.

Yeah Bill. Good to hear from you too. I am still kicking around and amped up about the Forebay shaping up. Another season passes, life moves on. Time to get on it.

Last couple of weeks out of three visits (one scratched due to wind) I got 2 3-pounders and 2 5-pounders plus a few little schoolies. All released to grow and fight again. But man it is the best I've seen it in several years. I still haven't had my 7-weight fly rods into the backing but the five-pounders got close. Bring it on.

So far I have been in the float tube (blasphemy I know) but the Tube is better in the wind when fly fishing because I can kick with both hands occupied with the fly rod. But it is shaping up for a great low-wind Fall and I'll be fishing the kayak more and more.  Better to cover more water and chase down those boils.

Hope to see many of you out there. I'll be the guy fly fishing in an orange Prowler 15--can't miss it ;-)
Come by and say hello so you can taunt me with your catch. I don't mind--it's all good.

Go get 'em SM. I fished w/ SM many moons ago and the man has the Forebay down pretty well. If you are a fly chucker you need to go fish w/ him there!
