Hey guys gonna be heading out and camping at Limekiln in a two weeks and wanted some info on how the launch is there and any other info that you willing to dish out. Hey guys by the way if anyone is interested in fishing the area I am looking to get a campsite the weekend of the 18th as long as it opens before then.

This is a good time of year to fish Limekiln, so go if you can!

The launch can be tricky. If the swell is big, you'll probably not want to launch at all. If it's small to medium, you have a beach break to contend with, where the wave doesn't break at all until it hits really shallow water, right in your launch zone. It's tough to predict the swell, because you won't see it breaking or peaking further out.

Guys I fished with had some luck landing by hopping off their boats early, in four feet depth or so, and pushing their yaks in from there.

So, please don't be deterred...just prepared. Leash everything, and use a dry bag for anything valuable, and go get em!
Always willing to join others in the Monterey/Santa Cruz/Half Moon Bay area for a bit of fishing...feel free to contact me.

Make sure to check on the status of fires burning around Santa luccia. It may be a non issue, but the Limekiln campground may be closed or affected.

what about  campground  above  mill creek?  can always  drive to launch area and be closer than  limekiln. ranger will not allow  driving close to beach and he made us carry our  kayaks  across  whole campground.

Yes, there is a campground right next to Mill Creek day use area. It's called Kirk Creek campground. They have some first-come first-serve sites so you might be able to get one if LK is full or closed. But there's also Plaskett Creek campground which is another 6 miles south of Mill Ck.
The last-resort is the campgrounds off Nacimiento-Ferguson Rd, which intersects HWY 1 near Mill Creek. Those are usually vacant. And a good fallback plan in case the other 3 are full. Although, I did hear Naci-Ferguson Rd is closed due to the newest fire.
