As you have read Juan and Jonesz absolutely ruled the river, and boy was it fun to watch.  It was awesome to just stop everything and watch everyones battles, even though many ended in heartbreak.  The success I had was greatly attributed to the company I held, I really admire the river knowledge these gentlemen have acquired.  It was obvious the fish were there, they jumped and rolled all day long, each one met with a gasp or a "whoa did you see the size of that one?" but getting them to grab was a task, even after our boys solved the puzzle.

It was Thursday afternoon and we we were making our second launch of the day.  I was the first one to arrive at "Jonesz's Hole" and with the second cast of my copper lil cleo I officially filled my card.

Others had hits here and there and Allen actually had the long fight of the day which came unbuttoned down below him before he could get it up to the surface - he also took the AGONY like a man.

Eric, After losing that fish I just hung my head and closed my eyes and drifted with the river for awhile replaying the event in my mind. I will never forget the energy that salmon showed, first holding the bottom and then racing upstream at warp speed only to bring me back downstream to the deep pool. The fish could have possibly been netted at one point but I decided not to until I was sure it was good and ready...... mistake?.... I still don't think so as I have lost more green fish at the net that way.  By the way that tear in my eye was from sweat causing the sunblock to get in my eye while fighting the fish.....yeah that's it ....sunblock :crybaby2:

This trip to the Klamath has echoed all of our NCKA experiences and then some. The beauty of the river and it's surroundings as well as the people we spent time there with were incredible.

Juan and Jonesz......you two seem to catch fish effortlessly, but we know it's anything but...

Patrick......great job on hooking, playing and landing that fish. I was a nervous wreck  watching you from the
second you hooked up.

Eric....not for lack of trying your fish just wouldn't stick. If we are going to suffer such agony let us do it in a place as beautiful as the Klamath. Your turn will come soon grasshopper.

Sean..........Believe it or not I was pulling for you to land one of those fish.......really!

Nice followups, guys.  Great trip indeed.  I'm looking forward to a trip or two up to the Smith...   :smt002

Now that all the crews are back and had their chance to chime in I'd like to thank Allen, who did manage to upgrade his card with a 20" jack which he very kindly bestowed upon me - too heart-broken about losing big ones to talk about that one, Al?  I know - I would be too!   :smt001  We ate it this evening, BBQ'd with a quick lime/cilantro/garlic marinade.  Ahhhhh, fresh salmon  :smt007 - thanks again, Friend.   :smt008

Cool vid Abby!

Thanks, Sean.   :smt001  I was going to PM you to ask if I could add the footage of you, but I felt we know each other well enough and you knew what you were getting in to!  AND I edit for flattery - I aim to get the message out without making anyone look bad.  I DID PM jonesz and mako1 and ask if I could lift their big fish pics from their reports and they approved.  It's fun making videos, but I don't have to worry about PC / "actor" approval issues when I'm the only one in them!   :smt003

NICE FILET JOB

Thanks, Jim.  I got over 2 pounds of meat out of that little jack, and he probably only weighed two and half or so.    :kick

Abking you are the VideoMaster!!!
