He EARNED those fish.  He stayed on the water the whole day and caught they both during the afternoon wind.  The man can fish. He was kinda happy!

Wow - WTG, Jonesz!  and I'd meant to mention, Nice to meet you.  Firefighter like my good Bro Don/Danglin - I respect you guys.  I'm stoked for you on the nice catches.   :smt001

Sean - sorry about the migraine.   :smt009  I figured you were a shoe-in too.  AOTY is one thing, but Good Times with the crew is what it's all about.  Way to make the trip and show the skills as well as the sportsmanship - everyone had that one down.

Looking forward to the wrap-up reports from the father-son duo.   :smt001

I am back...no salmon for me although I learned a lot andhad a great time with the crew.  The reason you have to LOVE NCKA and AOTY...the entire camp were contenders yet hanging out, sharing food, beer and info.

I hooked 4 fish.  The first snapped an 8# uni to uni in seconds, the 2nd I lost at the net, the 3rd jumped like a f'n dodo and spit the spoon and I landed the 4th...a wild coho...doh!!!!

I woke this am to a NASTY migrane and limped my a$$ home.  The spot was epic and the times were good. I will be back.

Jonesz fricking destroyed the place yesterday and I took the pic of the year...look at this!

Good God Man!  :smt003 :smt003 :smt003 :smt003

I think the chances for a salmon are fading and will last a couple more weeks - then you'd have to go up river (Trinity).  Otherwise, once the rains start the Smith has good action and equally beautiful scenery or better.  One thing's for sure:  it's NOT EASY to go to one of these rivers and catch a fish.  The best bet is to have at least 48-72 hours to dial in location and technique info.

Everyone there I'm sure wants to go back, but the nature of escaping to a hot fishery when you're only partially covering all other bases in life doesn't lend well to a hookup for me anyway - I'd guess the same is true for the others.  I'll be driving up there when I can, but it'll be spur of the moment and possibly desperately quick trips (being that I'm closer than most).  You may only hear from me in a report like this.

Good luck to all who are aiming to get up there - feel free to PM me for info or possible hookup.
