Just when I thought I knew her...

The other day she starts telling me (out of the blue) that she was talking with one of the doctors she works with, who happens to be a novice kayaker.  He started telling her about the MBK used kayak sale, and how he was excited because it was his chance to pick up a used kayak so he could stop renting.  She then says, "I told him yeah, my husband kayaks and it'd be cool to pick up another boat so I could join him...maybe we'll check out the sale!"

I was of course shocked when she told me, and I said "really?...I mean, I wanted to get a second yak, but figured we didn't have storage for it, not to mention I don't have any spare cash laying around...".  She then says, "I'm sure we can find room for it, and I'll even pay for it."

I immediately begin to suspect that my dear wife has either 1. Developed a rare brain tumor, or 2. Been possessed by some sort of alien entity.

Of course, she forgot to mention it to me until yesterday, and since she's working all weekend it looks like we'll miss the MBK sale.  But the good news is that when I told her that the NCKA guys post kayaks for sale quite often, she sounded quite positive about picking one up.  I showed her the 160i on the MBK sale, and she said $450 was a really good price...so that tells me I'm okay looking in the $500 range.  :smt003

Anyhow, I thought I'd share my good fortune with you guys.  I'm looking longingly at the yaks Sean posted, but I don't think she'll bite at that price.  (I'd really love to get that Trident!)  What I'd love is a nice T160 or equivalent ...I mean, that's what she'd like.  :smt002   I imagine I can rustle up some extra cash myself, so if anyone sees a good buy in say, the $600 range, let me know.

Now, if I can only get her hooked on fishing in the big blue I might get out on the water more often...

The sale is still going. It usually lasts for 2 weeks or so. Not sure if there are any 160s left but they got 120, 140, and others.

Thanks, PK.  For some reason I assumed it was a weekend-only thing.  I'll give them a call tomorrow if I have time (a brave assumption, considering that it's the first day of fall quarter at the college & things are gonna be craaazy).  In all honesty, as much as I'd like a 160 I'd probably be better off with a 140 given that my wife's a little Japanese gal.  She's got good upper body strength, but a 160 might be a bit much for her.

:smt044  We bought a big flat screen HDTV about 6 months ago (Sharp Aquos), and she even paid for it.  Marrying her was the best thing I ever did, bar none.  :smt003
