Hi everybody,
I’m looking for some (any) advice about Lake Shasta fishing during this time of year. I’ll be there this wknd from Friday-Sunday with a bunch of friends on a houseboat. A couple of us will be fishing. Originally I was set on bringing my kayaks but right now I’m 50-50, and might just bring my float tube instead (yeah, I know, a criminal offense in some circles LOL).

The information I have gleaned from a few websites seems to indicate bass (and cats) are the only game this time of year. If that’s the case, then maybe I’ll just bring a tube. But if somebody can convince me that there are trout or salmon to be caught, then, well, I’ll bring my yaks.

Otherwise, I’m looking for any helpful tips on where to go, what to use, etc. I haven’t been to Lake Shasta since 1993.

Granted, this is not a full-time fishing adventure. It is a wakeboarding, beer-drinkin, bikini-chasin, poker-playing, fishing trip with some good friends. It turns out we went overboard on the houseboat and got the biggest one that sleeps 16 but after all the flakers, we only have like 7 guys. So, there might be extra room if I know you; just send me a PM.

Thanks in advance for any helpful info you can share. Feel free to send the info via PM if it’s level-five-super-secret info.
Thanks,
Pat

Sounds like you guys are gonna have some fun, PK!

Check in with Ben / beenfishin from this board - he's not on much, so PM him if he doesn't chime in here soon.  He's a guide from Redding and a cool guy.

Good luck - I'll look forward to the bikini pics!   :smt003

Can't help you much, only place iI've been on the lake is the McCloud river arm way up the arm to the bridge that crosses it.  We got smallies, a few LMB and lots of trout (stocker size'd)up there.  We finally found what the fish wanted lure wise, tiny "Trout traps" in white.
