        Well here we go......

Met up with Adam early Thursday morning and began our very scenic ride north. We stopped at a rest stop just north of Willits where Adam informed me this is as for north as he had ever been.....what he didn't know is just how far north we would end up. The trip was made in good time and as we came into view of the coast our hopes were dashed a bit. We checked in at the campsite and headed straight for the cove to launch.
The breakwater was a welcome site as any kind of surf launch would have been out of the question. We ventured out into open water to be greeted by some large swells without too much wind in the beginning but even that would change in the following couple of hours. The drift was very deceiving as even with an incoming tide and onshore wind you would find yourself drifting west due to the eddy effect of the cove (later explained to us by AbKing )
The fishing was excellent considering the conditions. The wind machine started with a few of the larger swells began to break around us and the E-ticket ride was exhilarating to say the least. We had one mishap (his initials are H.T.) and that put an end to our fishing day.
We headed back to the campsite to build our little village and settle in for the night. The next morning while still waiting for the sunrise  I heard someone say "anyone wanna buy some crack"..............yep Abking had arrived. We packed our things and headed back to the cove. The original three amigos were relieved to see the conditions had improved considerably. The fishing was off the hook and quickly any sort of teaser hook was snipped off to concentrate on a lingzilla. At one point I doubled two lings on my one leadhead (both foul hooked) and while releasing one decided to give me a bloody nose as a good by gift. :smt013
Eric stayed for lunch and headed off to soccer practice. After two days of big seas we were already whuuped so we hung around camp till dinner where FisHunter did his magic with a couple ling cod fillets......that boy can cook. The next morning we launched into heavy winds and Thursday-like swells. The fishing was slower but the real fun was being out in the big water until we started to be greeted by an increasing mixed swell. It got to a point where every now and then you were slapped with a south swell mixed with N.W.er  that would pucker you up pretty good...........time to call it a day.
Lots of stories and "highjinx" were traded in camp which can only be reported around the NEXT campout. I truly think the friendships that are forged by this club are amazing..........seems like we have known each other for years.

Thank you Adam, Eric, and Patrick......... another Grand Adventure with MORE TO COME!

Love the Tsunami Hazard Zone sign - I've been getting clips of those and waiting to add them to a video.   :smt003

Allen, it must have been all a blurr...you got your BloodiedNose on Thursday.

Sat-morn. was a different ocean then the day before. As we got down to the launch,I could see that all of the compact swell had disappeared. We paddled straight to the proven grounds of the previous days hunt. Sticking to my method of madness, as soon as we get near the X-spot, my T.V. says I should Stop&Drop.

.....I follow the crew as we head out to deeper waters. There were hits&hooks, here&there but, the action seemed better in between the bouys.

pics 1, 2 &3 of the swell and glass....look close, it was big!

......ohhhh, i'm getting scared all over again! :smt009

I get a pretty constant bite of blues&blacks on the fluke. One was of a certain size and got sent down for a few SecretDeepStructureTours.......I'm all about showing it a goodtime while in my company....my rod loads up, I reel in slow&steady, seeing a ling with the blue, SIDE-WAYS in its' mouth, with jig&hook completly showing, I click it free and let it go down about 20ft. Hoping it re-postioned it (swallowed the head), I reel it back up and to my amazment, it's still in the same postion?...I then reach back to grab my net and like magic, my first ever LANDED hitch-hicker Ling@29"!!

*pic1~ a kiss&see ya' next year!

I wasn't finding the BigAction I was hunting for, so I headed back inside the HotterZone from the mornings hooks. Eric, Allen & Patrick were sticking to the deeper whistle bouy and getting action.
Soon I found I was drifting right back out to them? I paddled back in a did a couple of drifts over some promising grounds....BAM!! another Ling that just made 24", marking my bestday of ACTION on the Ocean so far!..which makes for a FisHunterMomentInHistory

*pic1~ my third keeper Ling of the day!...CR&R'd of coarse.

While I paddle in, I'm looking for CabCaves, I see a few of them good ol' marks. I send it down and SLAMMED I get! Getting it to the yak I see it the BIGGEST Black I've ever hooked, so a FS pose was in order. Right back down it goes...a CarbonCopy comes right back up...i repeated this step for a few of them. Finally finding a school of BigBlacks that bit hard&fought even harder...as i tried to BassLip it...it shook me like rag-doll, cutting into my fingers like a RipSaw!...needless to say, I dropped it fast and it excaped it's moment of fame.

*pic2~  19' Thick,Rich&Wholesome!

Eric was comming back from the deep and headed in for lunch&rest, I soon followed...capping an EPIC Day for me!

...back up at camp, we ate&chill'd for the rest of the day. Hoping for another shot in the morning before breaking camp.

*pic1~ Good thing no one else was there!..we had the TightCampGrind to ourselves the whole time!....I couldn't imagine camping so close to others, like at Albion, it was designed to Get-To-Know-Your-Neighbors. WHETHERyouWANTEDtoORnot!
