My local favorite spots have sucked this year so I decided to join the crown and hit the bay. My work SUCKED on Thurs., so I went solo for some solitude.  Was thinking about ARW but hit Paradise/Quintin so I could avoid the hassle of the five-one-oh.

Jigged briefly but bait was fast and ez.  Sent down a pefect jacky.  Not long afterwards I felt the tippy tappy of "get in mah belly".  Let it eat it and wound down to find weight.  I never get excited in the bay as the wrong kind out numbers the right kind 2,348:1.  However, when I got it to color I panicked!!!!

It made a bolting run to the bottom, but my freshly serviced Inshore was like butah.  One more trip to the top and a gentle lift of the gaff...and then it tried to pull my arm out of the socket.  This thing went nuts on the gaff.  I hung on, and managed a few well-placed swings from the mini-Rawlins.  Clipped it, tethered it, cut the gills, and thanked SWEET JESUS!  :smt059

A nice, but clearly annoyed dude in a boat worth about 60X my yak was kind enough to snap this pic...

Easily my personal best...

So even though I hate fishing the garbage can that is SFB, there are some damn nice fish in there right now!

Group IQ is inversely proportional to the size of the group.

A Steelhead always knows where he is going, but a Man seldom does.

Scarey, beautiful, beast!
You jigged up jacksmelt right there? And they were the right size?

The great big jackies almost always get bit, but getting a good hookup has been nearly impossible, so you gotta sort through em till you get one the size of a big herring, those are money.
