Smallies are a Blast

Me and the dog went for a midday paddle on the RR we had a blast with the smallies. caught about 20 fish and 6 were in the 17/18" range and fat. Lot of aerobatics one of the big ones musta got 6' of air right in front of a pack of kayaks, everybody was screaming. I had one on that I never saw take line like a steelie, can't belive how strong these fish are.All C&R on ultra lite too much fun.

What part of the RR were you on (or how far from Santa Rosa/101)?

I always wonder about the RR when I drive up to my mom's place in Windsor.

Those are some fat smallies. Wow...!!! Melissa has been bugging me to get her hooked up on some smallie action. I may have to bring her up there the weekend after this coming one. Hope they are still on the munch.

Smallies are far and away the funnest fish per pound in freshwater, IMNSHO. 17-18" Smallies are good sized fish, too. I need to get on the Russian one of these days...

Awesome report and photos!  Cool dog.  I would love to get on some river smallies.  Any info on launch locations, etc?  I am not familiar with the Russian River.
