I was wondering about some advice on a FF and a downrigger for my Hobie.
I have been shopping around, and have my eyes on a Scotty 1073 lake troller.
I cant tell from the pictures or the descriptions I have read, but does anyone know if the lake troller has a counter on it?
I have not really seen anything other than the Scotty that would seem small enough.
Also I am considering an Eagle Cuda fish finder.
Any comments or advice would certainly be appreciated.
Thanks,
LD

LD,

I've got the Scotty Laketroller on my Hobie Adventure and love it.  It doesn't have a "counter" per se but one full revolution of the knob represents a foot so when deploying, if it spins 22 times on the way down, you're gear is supposed to be at 22 ft.

As for the Eagle Cuda FF, I don't have one but MANY people on the board do and I read nothing but positive things about them.  If you do a search on it, I'm sure you'll see what I'm talking about.

Welcome and good luck.

Michael

Yep no line counter on the lake troller.  I have a Eagle Cuda 240 and enjoy it's operation.  100% on my water time is fresh water right now, (This to change here soon) and having the GPS/FF combo is nice.
Do a search to see the downriggers in use here, I'm one, and there are a few others.

I know NOTHING about batteries but that seems a little large.  I have the "new school power supply."  Easy, cheap, and reliable.  The one thing that I did differently was that I used a pelican case instead of the rubber container.  Otherwise, I followed the directions to a "T."

Good Luck!

Michael

Thanks for the link to that article, I had forgotten that I had seen that when I 1st came to "lurk in the shadows."  :smt003
At the time was just considering the kayak.
Now I get to add more toys! :smt001

That is the battery I use. It is large. But I only need to recharge once every 3 trips (each trip approx 7 hours). And it has enough juice to power a color FF and GPS and a bait tank. I place the battery inside a Lock N Lock box from Target, inside the hull. The box lives inside the hull but the battery gets removed each trip.
