Finally, I pulled the trigger… and bought my 1st kayak.
I had been looking to get one for some time, and had been shopping, and lurking in the background here on your site, trying to learn from all of your posts.
I had a couple sold before I could get there, or I would have had to drive 135 miles to pick one up in the Bay Area… and one day my wife just said, “Why don’t you just go buy a new one, one that you like…”  :smt007
Well I may be crazy, but I ain’t no fool.
I was down at Adventure Sports the next morning before they opened.
And walked out with a new Outback, before she could change her mind.  :smt003
I still need to add a few things, like a FF and down rigger, but I have had a chance to fish from it twice since I got it on Friday, and am loving it.
I look forward to meeting some of you some time soon, if you come up to the Crystal Basin to do some trout fishing, give me a holler, and maybe I can join you.
Thanks jeffrm20 for recomending this site from another board I frequent.

Ahhhh....the crystal basin lakes. Have yet to explore those lakes with a yak. In due time though....

Congratulations, and be nice to your wife.  I'm forbidden to go within 500' of a yak store.

LD

Nobody here is like that.   :smt002

If you can make people smile, laugh, feel proud, cry, erupt in cheering, get activated for an issue, and/or just relax a little better, then you'll fit right in.  Lurkers can't do that, and it's sad for them.   :smt001

Pictures… I don’t do pictures, yet…
I drop too many things in the water, like downriggers, glasses, and various other tools.  :smt010
My wife will not let me take anything valuable out on my aluminum boat, much less a kayak.
Funny thing, I heard her talking to an insurance agent, about increasing the life insurance coverage on me…

Hey Ld ,

Congrats on your new ride and welcome to the board. I too have an outback that
I'm still finishing. Pimpin that is. I'll finally get to put some hours on this kayak starting this weekend. I'm thinking of Napa river for now until I build enough
confidence to go out on the big blue (ocean).

WTTM JD!!!! :smt006

You've joined a great site with great folks. Now you have to bank a ton of WAF points because the yak itself is a minor expense.

By the time you buy the portable GPS, VHF radio,Fishfinder, rod mounts, FF mounts, batteries, clothing, terminal tackle that of course you always need more of, landing net, live bait well, scupper plugs, lots of stainless steel hardware, anchor, drift chute, PFD, ancillary safety gear( air horn, flares, first aid kit,etc...),wheels for the sand, more rods and reels, roof rack system if you don't have a pickup.... :smt003

You've now spent 2-3 times the cost of the yak...I hope she loves you very, very much :smt044
