With all the reports of halibut I could not stand it so I headed out from my place about 5, right after work.  I considered launching at Monterey Beach Hotel as the waves were very small but since I had posted MBK, I headed over and snagged the last parking spot before the outrigger guys and gals took over.

I hit the water by 6 and immediately dropped a glow scampy while I rigged a squid on the other rod.  I drifted and dragged squid from MBK to the metal building on the dunes from 35 in to 6 feet and less.  Then out to the orange can and back to the beach and then back to MBK.  I saw one guy land a small halibut about 50 yards away from me early on say by 6:30.  He was in no more than 6 feet of water.  I had no bites but was not thirsty and thoroughly enjoyed myself.

While I was at the futhest point, Ben hailed me on the VHF.  It was great to see you when I landed and thanks for the assist on the haul up to the car.  I stuck it out till sunset and got a little chilled packing things up.

The worst part of fishing late is getting things put away when you get home.  Just as well I did not catch any fish, not really.  I will need to rinse gear tomorrow.  Here are the pics.

You definitely will not catch it if you do not go.
