I may have fooled a few of you when I made a fishing report at the end of the rockfish season last year.  I said that it probably would be my last trip in California...for a long time anyway.  Well, my move is still happening but was changed from March to June 6th.  So I am posting with 90% assurance that this is my last fishing report from NorCal.  What a trip it was!  (very slim chance I might go out next weekend)

Fished with my buddy Eric and got my limit of rockies and lings.  Eric had the same.  In fact, when we compared big fish, his biggest rockfish and mine weighed the same....to the ounce.   5lb 6 oz.

The two lings were small - 25.5" and 27", but they were my first keepers of the season.  Had to release about a 30" ling after I kept those two.  My two biggest rockfish were a shade over 21".

Eric - You are a stud!  Thanks for the shirt.  Did you try the yarrow tea?

Pics include a shot of my FF screen...one of many near blackouts.
And my daughters who love to cuddle dead fish

Today's condition is anything I look for. Swells were small. Almost no wind until noon. The drift direction is towards our favor. When we paddled back, the wind was on our back. :smt001

I kept 7 reds + 2 olives + 2 lings. The largest red today is 21.5" and weighs 5lb 6oz.  Lings are not as big as PK caught. No complaint of the ling 27.5". It is the 1st keeper ling for me this season. Well, we just started RF fishing season.

I will follow to post some pictures for sharing. Pictures on water turn out good. Now I need to catch some sleep.  :smt002

Hope everyone gets one good fishing day during this long weekend. :smt006

Eric

And finally....evidence of Bill's revenge on sea lions.

Ok...not really.  All kidding aside, this sea lion beached him/herself after our launch and was not in good shape...All he did was open his eyes when we walked to within 6 feet.  I feel bad for the guy.  Couldn't see any obvious damage.  Doubt if he is still alive as I post this.

Very nice stringers. I guess if I had a secret spot like that I wouldn't need Limekiln.  :smt005

Awesome fishing trip!  Well, if we didn't have LK then we wouldn't have epic wipe outs and Scott would continue to change his avatar every month.  LK also reminds us why we stash all of our gear before we attempt to make a banzai landing.

Nomad, good way to leave the Nor Cal fishing scene with a full stringer of big fish.  I hope you make your way back here eventually.  Hopefully they have decent fishing where you're moving to.

Eric, dude...you're starting off the season with great success.  Sounds like its going to be another banner year for you.
