7AM :Got to the launch site and saw this ........and then this 

The wind was blowing offshore just outside the protected launch

sorry to hear it was a bust

As I waited for my two homies (Chuck and JTF) to show up, I decided to take a stroll along the launch and I discovered and ancient digging device used by the early settlers......

GEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSUS!  What a difference in pics!  Guess it's like Bear Grylls says: "You never know how steep a mountain is until you rub noses with it."  Hope you didn't unload everything before finding the surf was UP!

NO backup plan??? 

After my discovery...I went up to the look out hill and saw some odd looking sea birds...I studied them carefully (coz I had plenty of time now that my comrads were nearly an hour late )....and came to a conclusion of naming them "Black Oystercatchers" (google / image it if you doubt me )

My posse finally showed up and we decided it wasn't our day to fish We hung out by the point for an hour and discussed JTF's future with the skateboarding industry  I heard Tony Hawk invited JTF on a skateboard tour sometime soon.....and JTF had agreed since the salmon season is pretty much a bust this year....

Anyway, we noticed someone else was listening to our conversation and decided to chime in.....

...we also got an unexpected drive by from this mama whale with her little calf

Probably left by the ancient californicator tribe.  Nice archaeological work.

And black oyster catchers have never caught oysters in their lives - someone just thought they looked like something that should catch oysters.

Too bad about the conditions.

I've seen several sets of whales in close this year.  Some off Coral St just beyond the kelp leaping out of the water, and some near the swim buoy near 4th St in santa cruz as close as I think a whale could get and not scrape bottom-both sets within the last week.

Breakfast at Gazos Creek (the only gas and breakfast place you'll come across between HMB and Santa Cruz)..

I prefer Duartes in Pescadero.

Cool that you guys hooked up, and too bad about not fishing, but that ocean looks pretty similar to Brian's shots from a week ago.  Sorry to out you, Bro!     Just kidding - I wasn't there and wouldn't claim to know what was going on, but I do think you're trying to pass off two sides of the point on us!  Nice try, Mooch - maybe the GWS heeby-jeebies got ya!
