Who actually likes their job?

I was thinking about this thread yesterday,. Got to play out on the FireBoat....

 Lots to see, it was like a Carnival out there, Tons of eye Candy of course...

Had to be Kool with the Camera, ( Especially when Getting Flashed.. ) ,

Even saw Abdiver out there sporting a NCKA sticker on the Yak, Nice to see ya ,

 Kind of bitter sweet though, 2 people were taken by the American over the weekend, 

 1 of them a 11 y/o girl...I think the other was a 23 y/o male ...too busy to find out more...

 So sad, totally preventable, we have life vest right there @ Discovery Park for anyone to use.

 Still, in 2 of the cases, the family just lost track of the child in the water...No PFD in

 Swift...Cold... moving water....

 My thoughts are with the Families....

 We did get 2 saves, I think, 1 of them a 4 y/o girl....

One is still in Critical Condition, But the only reason they had a chance was because of people on scene were doing the right thing....

The funny thing you mention that boat, they came barreling down river directly at me while I was talking to another kayaker . I think they were counting their money$$$$. I looked over to the guy I was talking to and said so who's driving as no one was paying attention. Needless to say we end up paddling out of the way and they did even acknowledge us as they went by.

Wow...those big boats were on the American in Sac???  I spent every waking hour down there as a kid...times have changed!

I like maybe even REALLY like my job- even though i am stuck inside, i'm in a beautiful place. Every day i get to "figure out how to figure it out" -- "it" being different all the time.

I just love the pic of the two pits in the innertube, the trouser hound in the raft with them isnt half bad either!

Yeah mine sucks too. Just got back from the East Cape, now I have to leave tomorrow night to go to Florida to chase Tarpon. I only get a weeks break and I have to go to Alaska to fish with Howard for a week, barely home and have to go back to East Cape. Later this year I have to go to the East Coast, Texas and Canada also and they are making me fish there too. I know, I can feel your sympathy, it does suck. Now if I could only figure out a way to actually make some money.

I grow roses in California, the most restrictive enviroment.  My competitors grow in Central and South America.  My new competitors are starting up in China and Africa.  What I do for $10, they can do for 10 cents.

Domestic rose growers are now numbered at less than 20, down from thousands.  My government sacrificed my industry on the alter of free trade and got squat in return.

So my goal is to be the last man standing.  Why?  Because threads like this remind me that almost all jobs suck, so at least here, Im my own boss and the only idiot to blame in management is myself!

  Sometime I love my job, most times I hate it.  Politics and Burocrats really can ruin your day at work.  I have seen a huge change in the attitudes of Californian's.  More and more are hateful and disrespectful to law enforcement.  I come to these boards to remind myself there are still many good people in the world.  I hunt and fish to keep my sanity.  Matt

MattS, I hear you brother! I was raised in a L.E. family and still recall the respect that people had for the cops. Of course the cops were able to handle things a little different back then and had A LOT more discretion. My current postion is like any other job, you have your good days and you have your bad days. The key is leaving the bad things at the job and not bringing it home. A hobbie like this will keep you sane and keep the blood pressure down.
