I have been doing electrical work (started summers and holidays since I was 14)  most all my life, other than a stint cleaning a butcher shop at night and being a laborer. In 1986 purchased the business with a "game plan" which included targeting one specific type of the elect. business and doing small residential developments.
To answer the question.....Yes I really do like my job.........BUT I LOVE MY BETTER HALF'S JOB!!!!
She owns and operates a "corporate incentive/travel business" which sends her ALL over the globe for days and weeks on end staying in the best hotels/resorts in the world. Currently she is in San Diego until late tonight and then leaves for Bora Bora tomorrow through the end of the month. Unbelievably she's still willing to share my outdoor activities including roughing it in a tent anywhere from the desert to the coastline. Sorry Guys ....she's mine as long as she will have me.......

Shoot us some questions and I will see if she (Peggy) can answer them for you. I'm not sure I  would ever go there.....rumor has it at about $12 for a beer so you might figure what everything else is going to cost.    Allen

It's all work in the end, but I love my job, especially when I'm guiding or teaching classes.  Selling kayaks is pretty darn cool too - I can't complain.  It's especially nice when chatting it up with customers and discussing what trip they are going on or coming back from.  Don't get me wrong, it's still work and I still have to sit at a computer for a many hours a day.  That's my least favorite.

Lets see... I don't know if I love or hate my job.  I sell mattresses for a living, so if I'm bored at work, there is always a good place to take a nap.  I have a $7000 mattress set right next to my desk.  In the down time, when I'm not napping, I'm on this website talking about fishing, which is my second favorite thing to do next to actually fishing.  And all the while I'm getting paid for it!  On the other hand it can be a terrible bore.  To be honest there are times I would prefer being out digging ditches to sitting here on my butt.

Before I went on to grad school and became a career bureaucrat I was going to school for a Parks and Recreation Mgmt degree. During those years I worked as a backpacking guide, mainly leading trips to Havasupai Falls in the Grand Canyon, or shorter trips to various places in northern Arizona. I know what you mean when you say you love your job when guiding or teaching classes because I really miss that work. Sure do wish I could figure out how to get back to that kind of work.

I keep telling my wife, if she would just work harder, I could retire!  :smt044 :smt079

Love the job. 7-8 days a month and I get to scout new fishing grounds.
still if I could fish from a kayak for a living and keep my home/lifestyle I would probably go for it.

Work sucks that is why they pay us for it.  But in the grand scheme of things, tech support and sales while telecommunting is fairly ideal except that I know what it is like on the ocean just a few minutes away I have have to be home working most of the time.  But I do get some flexibility and my assistant in San Francisco starts Monday so I may be able to swing a few shifts on hte water early or late :smt003.

I loved my job, untill I was laid off this past Thursday due to lack of work. I was a CNC Laser operator for a precision sheet metal company. I was there for 1 year and 9 months, so I have a total of 3 years experience in my field of work. Sad sad sad. Its hard to find positions for that type of work. :smt011. But I had a feeling it was coming, out of our close 70 something employees, 90% of us have had our hours cut down to 32 hours a week since January. Owner blames the economy, but I think there is more than that. I dunno. I am considering making a career change and going into CDF and being a firefighter. But I want to be up in the rural forest fighting the bigger fires. My dad was a firefighter for a long time and I always wanted to be one since I was a kid. But when my son came along it kind of changed my plans. But it was all worth it, now that hes a little older I can concentrate on a career a little better.

Now I sit in a cubicle on Mare Island

Mare Island is a cool place; I have done some teaching at Touro Univ. Driving through the old Navy yards is amazing. Big Dead Machines. I keep forgetting to bring a camera.
