That does sound too big for down there.  If conditions are too bad when we get closer in time, we can always alter the plan and not drive so far south.

Etienne -

Unless it is REALLY bad, I am still coming to your neighborhood to kill some rockies. We could meet at Monastary at 530-6 and decide where to go after we see what it looks like.

the forecast I looked at today makes sat look reasonable.

pretty sure I am fishing not surfing this weekend, but hopefully somewhere closer than big sur.

but if I was to drive that far, it looks like it should be launchable.

Hey John -

You should join us. Big Sur is really special when you factor in the scenery and wildlife. If not carpooling with Martin, you could throw your yak on my car at Monastary.

Too funny! I posted that " epic" hookup last year- and had to bail on it... I still havnt been there, but since the road I grew up on is named Limekiln Rd, I think I should go full circle and hit it hard.

The ocean did not look bad today.  The wind did come up in the PM but not as bad as last week.  I am looking forward to a fine day.  Often the swell and north wind are cut off inside that far south.  Just watch out for the short dump on the launch and landing.

I figured JTF started it but now I recall he took over your reservation.  You should join us.  You too J.

The NOAA report still shows 7-9ft for sat which is a bit on the high  side for that area. Which website are you viewing for the weather report?
I'm just making sure since its a long way down there for me.

Good fishing to all that make the trip! :smt006
One of my best days on the water last year was a sparkling fall day at Limekiln. Have been lurking on this thread since the start while trying to massage other commitments for this weekend to the end of freeing up the day to blast down there.... not to be. Soooo good luck will thinking about you all. Gosh I hate missing this one!!! :smt010

scott, you are probably right that I should go because yes, big sur is more than fish you are so right. very magical.

but it's a bit far for me, I can't quite get all my planning done in time.

weatherwise, one thing I am seeing on:

http://www.lajollasurf.org/nocal.html

see how there is less surf up north and quite a bit where we are here? generally speaking, that pattern kind of moves south as time goes on.

so it's possible that if you drive south, you are going with the big waves. if the waves are real northerly and you are fishing a spot that faces south you should be fine, but something to watch.

I will probably fish this weekend as the south swells seems to be puny, but I will probably fish santa cruz or just north of there depending on what the weather throws us.

best of luck to the limekiln party!

Yakuza and I will be targeting a 630-7 AM launch from Limekiln. If you launch before or after, we will be heading NW 2 miles offshore to the promised land.  :smt006
