What happens when you take a gymnast fishing?  Hit Coral street 5/3 and it was looking grim; no love, not even bites.  Headed in close and shallow hoping for cabezon and he picks up a 16.5 inch cabbie, a just legal greenling and an assorted bag of small rockies.  Pretty good for his first kayak rock fishing considering the conditions around the opener.  He of course is getting cocky in a way that only a 13 year old can.  I whisper a prayer to the fish gods, and in rapid fire succession pick up a 30 inch ling, an underling, then a 32 inch ling that is my largest from a kayak.  Thank you fish gods for allowing me to show the boy that the old man still has some juice :headbang:

of course there must be a yang to my ling ying. He was commenting how stable he felt in the yak and asked if he could do a handstand.  Told him when we go in and MY rod is safe, go ahead and try it.  The pic is undoctored and the yak is not beached or grounded.  Narob is a witness!  So I may be the fishmaster, but he schooled me on balance!

How does that prayer go? I'm not a religious dude, but two lings over 30" are two lings over 30"!

Dude Eugene! Nice job keeping the little guy in check. That sounds like a great day of fishing man. And your son is crazy to do a handstand in a yak. That is just awesome. I give it a 10!
Thanks man,
PK

Way to pull out off the double BOOM on the lings, E!  Gotta love that kinda meat prize early in the season!  I can't wait to get out for some fresh fish.

That handstand is very impressive - way to get the young man out there for madness training, and that's awesome that he's putting his own spin on it.   :smt001

Yeah that handstand was cool to watch.  It wasn't just a quick up then down he held it for a long time.  Very impressive

jmairey- the prayer needs to be custom to the moment;

oh great fish gods
ruler of all that floats,
dont let me be outdone
by the kid in the yellow boat

a father you have been
and alway will be,
so you should easily be able
to sympathize with me.

and BAM, that is that :smt003

Scallen, the pics are on the way via email.
