Well, I went back to Whites today after yesterday's big limit to see if I could coax another big fish.

I tried some new areas and missed two nice fish.  First one just came unbuttoned after what I thought was a solid hook set.  It was on for 30 seconds and really put a good bend in my rod.  After a small 1 pound bass to break the ice, I hooked into another nice fish, it really put some weight in my pole, then pop!  Broke the line at the hook (I had noticed a slight fray in my line earlier, but neglected to re-tie.  After yesterday's  9+ pound fish, I should have known to re-tie.  Plus I put a bit too much heat on the fish.)

After another hour of nothing, I started to drag my swim bait along a tule bed and got slammed by an acrobatic 5 pounder.  My Hobie got blown into the tules head first, so I had to fight her backwards over my head.

30 minutes later, working a nice berm of weeds, my swim bait ticked a weed, popped off, and got SLAMMED hard.  As I turned to look, a 7 pound 14 oz bass launched itself two feet clear of the water, head shanking with gills flaired, tail walking...man, I wish I had that on video.

about two hours later, I got hammered again.  This fish I could not budge.  As I fumbled for my net (it has an extendable handle with a button that locks it in place) with shaking hands and rod stuck between the legs,  The fish worked its way out of the weeds it had buried itself into...only a 1.5 lb bass, but after the last two days my nerves were on hyperdrive!

Two more fish on the swim bait, the last went 3 pounds.  Six fish total. 5 biggest: just shy of a 19 pound limit.

I'll be back at it again tomorrow and the rest of the week.

Bryan

Pictures: 5 lb 0 oz; 7 lb 14 oz, and the fish in the weeds.

I have used several brands that have worked.  I used Money Minnows today.  Just dragging/trolling it real slow with 100-120 feet of line out.  It was too windy to cast anyway.

Bluegill dart in and out the weedbeds and are easy targets for bass waiting to ambush them.  Locating isolated hydrilla beds then ripping through them with firetiger colored crankbaits and bright colored spinnerbaits is deadly.

Nice job.
