I went out after sand dabs again on Saturday, got 11. I went past the first deep water and found an area where it was more than 200' deep, but didn't drop off so fast. It seemed like a pretty good spot because I caught most of the fish right away, as many as 4 at a time, and they seemed to be a little bigger than the ones I have caught before in the first deep water. They were delicious as usual. The fish seemed to stop biting when I got into some areas where the FF didn't read a clearly defined bottom. It looked like there was some kind of stuff in the water, often fairly near the surface, sometimes including marks for fish. I'm not sure what it meant. I found some places 200 - 300' deep where the water had a ripple on it that was not caused by the wind, so I figured it must be a current. Anyhow, I think I got drifted off the good spot that I started in and never found my way back to it. On my way back in I was thinking of drifting for halibut in the area just outside of the surf zone, but I found that the swells were big enough that I was uncomfortable getting very close, so I made a halfhearted try at jigging a white buck tail in about 40' of water and then headed back into the harbor. This is about my 4th time out in my new boat and I finally remembered to take a picture of it, so here it is. I need to give credit and thanks to Hawk and Humboats for setting me up with the boat, electronics, rod holder etc.

Thanks for the report mike. Great details too man! Maybe those weird marks were bait? That w/b a great sign as far as salmon are concerned. But it also could've been jellyfish, I guess.
Nice looking fishing machine. Yer kayak has purdy eyes....LOL!
Thanks!

Great report, Mike.  Cool that you hooked up the dabs.  No rockfish coming up from 200-300' I hope!

Whats up Mike wish I would have known you were heading out we probably would have joined you. So were you fishing in between the buoys again? The fish look a little bigger. Laters Andy.

Hey Andy, sorry I didn't post on hookups but I didn't decide to go until after I'd left work (and my computer) on Friday. Kind of a last minute deal. I went out further this time, well out beyond the two buoys, and the fish are a little bigger out there.
