Nice Dan.  Can't wait to see the photos.  Sounds like you almost had to shave it's whiskers to make it into the slot.  Nicely done.

At 66", the battle is over, it's the top of the slot limit.  The only hope for someone else is a tie.

Got to Monte with my bizzle scwafish at 0930.  Lots of boats in the "Danglin spot" so instead of going under the bridge we went left and cruised around looking for the right kind.  We found a PILE of marks about 1.5 miles from the launch on the south side of the slough in about 15 feet of water.

We anchored up and waited for the tide to change.  The tide was going full blast around 1130 and I got a tap-tap.  :fishing2 I swung and it was ON.  After a long tussle it went upstream and wrapped scwa's anchor line.  Sean dropped his anchor and got to work untangling the mess while the fish continued surging.

A few minutes later it was free and we were drifting.  Eventually got it to the yak  :fishing1 and it began bubbling.  I got it on the noose and scwa measured it against his boat.  Once, twice, three times...66 on the NOSE!   :smoke

SooooooOOOOOOOooooo stoked to break the curse we decided to let this big prego girl swim free.   Scwa took pics and a short vid, but the scene was pretty nuts so not sure how they came out.  Got it on a mix of shrump and wurms with anise oil. We got GREAT bait at Leonards...high quality.  I 'm getting my Zin on with Kickinbass and scwa right now...I'm sooooo wasted....that was my skull.

BTW-if your a white guy, bring sun screen. :anger

Just back from the partay...buzzed on good red so I'll keep it short.  Not that long into the tide I here Dan muttering and he's in the "ready for the next tap" pose...he swings and goes bendo.  No doubt about what it was.

Today's lesson...drop your anchor...right away!!!  What a mess.  Nothing like a spectra/anchor line knot with a pissed of fish on one end.  Got it unwound and Dan was motoring up current.

The battle after that was kinda short and the big dino started bubblin...time for the noose.  After a few tries and lots of wrangling we got a great measure on this tank which appeared to be full of roe...66 on the dot.  DAMN!  So jealous!!!! We looked at this freakish cool fish and knew it was time to let her go.

Nice job brother MAhi!

Did you mark the fish so if one of us catch it tomorrow can identify and skip the measuring? (O;
