Ok, so I heard Mooch say in some recent post that he thinks the GTS seats are the bomb. I would like to hear from everybody (but especially the big guys 200 + lbs) that own GTS seats. Which models do you have and which have you tried? The two that I am interested in are the Pro and Elite models. The elite model has the high back, the pro has a shorter back. I'm mainly interested in hearing about booty padding and lower back support (I got a bad back). After a long day with a standard OK seat I absolutely must get a seat upgrade. I couldn't even feel my a$$ when I got out of that seat after a long day at LL.

All feedback welcome.

Thanks

The pro is a stupid design that raises your cg toooo much.  The original is still the best.

I would rarely disagree with Scwafish and when I do I'm probably wrong :smt012 but tourist who flock to my kayak rental shop in the summer prefer the High back ultra cushioned seat to my low back spider seats. If you never knew anything else the GTS might very well be the cat's meow but if your upgrading from standard nylon seat Sean is right about your Center of gravity being off kilter. I don't think it's a stupid design it's just not for everyone. Flogger you should ask Sean about the apex 1 set if you really want a quality high back seat

When you say "the orignal is still the best", do you mean the Elite? The pro seems to have the thicker butt cushion but has a lower back (it's also solid gray), while the Elite seems to be the high back version (black around the edges with gray in the middle of the back). Correct me if I'm wrong. I'm just going by what I see on the Surf To Summit website. If I'm gonna drop over a hundred bucks on a seat I wanna get the right one.

The original GTS.  What Hawk is saying is correct.  Get a good quality high back, they are comfy all day.

I agree with the chose of the GTS. I have the "STS GTS PRO Seat" and really love it! It is comfortable for the long periods out dino hunting. I'm 6' and weigh 260#, so I do qualify to say what I'm saying. Just my 2 cents worth. Good luck on your choice.  :smt006

I have the GTS Elite with fishing pack - got it from GWKC - thanks again btw. The only issue I have is the self inflating seat died real quick on me, the valve popped out during a rinsing. Come to think of it I haven't had real good luck with those self-inflating type seats probably user error that or I am just abusive - probably abusive given the little use it gets. The high back is a dream though if you have never used one.

As it is I am still using different combinations for the butt and still find that unless I am in the full 7mm wetsuit my butt gets sore and tired after about four hours no matter what. I am thinking about trying to track down whatever gel is used in the gel filled seat cushions and trying to fill the self inflating seat with that. If that is not possible I am going to look into adding a piece of 7mm neoprene to the bottom of the seat. I am worried about the center of gravity getting too high but I also hate cutting a day short because I just have to stand up.

Jeff

Originally I got into fishing to fish.

If you send it to STS they will warranty it...they had a LOT of problems with the Air GTS.  Too bad, as it was the BOMB when working.  They are planning on bringing that model back once they make it more bomb-proof.

Why do they still have it on their web site??

Couldn't tell ya, but they don't have anymore of the old ones.  I made a new bladder for mine and it is now the best seat ever.

I'm just waiting on the right ebay auction. I've been watching for a while now and have seen quite a few go for under $100 (including shipping). I'm tired of having my a$$ go to sleep on me with those long days on the water.

Thanks for the input everybody.
