FYI: I was at Wildsports this afternoon and a guy came in to get a picture taken with his 11-1/2lb trout out of Lake Natomas. Everyone in the store was blown away and the word at the store was that Lake Natomas has been kicking out some pretty nice size fish. The guy also had another smaller one in the cooler as well. Just thought I'd give you a heads up in case Folsom has nothing to offer.

I guess we know where Freddie's headed. :smt002
Group IQ is inversely proportional to the size of the group.

A Steelhead always knows where he is going, but a Man seldom does.

I'll be at Nimbus on weekends, so might try out after work on Sat...  I've never fished at Natoma.  where you launch at? at CSUS aquatic center?

Naoaki-

For Natoma, I'd launch at Negro Bar. It's over the Rainbow bridge off of Greenback. And fish just past the bridge. The water is deep and cold out there... Don't know what to catch them on though... I have yet to pull anything out of that lake.

Best bet I think would be to go for Folsom kings with Brian Bluejeans. South fork or in front of the dam have been kicking out fish. I hear some really nice kings were caught. Needle fish and little hoochies.

Wish I could get out there Friday... maybe during the next week though. Let us know how you guys do.

If your going to fish Lake Natomas you should launch at Negro then head up towards the Prision. It gets deep quick in the canyon and most guys boats & yaks troll right there. Personally I wouldn't really fish the lake part, I'd say from rainbow bridge up river would be your best bet. I haven't really caught anything spectacular out of there but can say I've seen some nice fish caught by other boaters over the years.

AbDiver-

That's exactly the area I was thinking about. I guess you can't go up too far because of the big house though. And I have yet to see anything come out of that lake. I've seen pictures but nothing in person.

Ya the bull horn from the Prison Guard Tower will yell at you if you go past the cable hanging over the river.

The cable and this sign....stop here!

Natomas is a great lake for paddling and diving for crawdads, but the fishing is tough. I've fished there a lot over the years and can't remember catching anything worth bragging about. They're in there...but you have to work for them.

I agree with Freddie, go to Folsom and fish for Kings.

Thanks guys for all your inputs!  you guys are the best! :smt041
I know Natomas is a pretty lake & very close to where I get off work on weekends, so I really wanna try there.  I gotta fish tho, I cannot just paddle even though I don't catch anything... :smt044

anyways, depends on how's gonna go tomorrow, but are you still up for Friday, Brian G & if so what time? :smt006

I would like to launch from Dyke 8 around 7 am, any later and I will hit commute traffic coming up. I'll stay until I get limits or hunger drives me off the water.

Work is dragging me in tommorrow. This is going to be an afternoon afair if at all. If anyone is driving up past el dorado hills look in the Blue Shield parking lot for the kayak and truck to know I am suffering with the rest of the working world.

Make sure your blastin Johnny Cash before you put in that area, as good luck hymn.  Those pics are from summer, right?  My aunt lives up there, says river is coming down but that it is currently up big time.
