Mark Pastick is great guy and we all owe him a huge thanks for being a local kayak fishing pioneer and sponsoring the first kayak fishing derbies in NorCal.  He's been single-handedly organizing the Santa Cruz Kayak Fishing Derby series (Father's Day in June and Grandfather's Day in Sept) long before most of even knew the sport existed.  Mark's first derbies only had no more than 6 participants.  Now, his derbies usually attract 30 or more participants.  Also, his derby proceeds are donated back to Monterey Bay Trout & Salmon Restoration Project.

Kayak Connection sponsored the first derby I ever entered and luckily won back in 2004.  So for me, it's personal.

Kayak Connection is business, and sooner or later, all owners like Mark will either want to pass it down to family members or sell it to move on to better things.

I wish Mark the best of luck no matter what he decides to do.

Me too.

Major bummer.  KC hooked me up this summer '07 in a major way.  I hope they do well, whether they close the sale or choose to remain in business.  Can't speak highly enough about margaret, golden, and the rest of KC staff.  They really KNOW and practice customer service.

Does this mean no Father's Day tournament?
