....there are big trout from mt.lassen planted in there(clipped-tail) lots of small ones and LMB that hide in the tullies!
willseeuouthere,somewhere!

Ha ha, yes, I read all of your old reports on Lafayette before going. One of your "Bass Spots" is my fall trout spot. I have tried from the shore there a few times and found one area where I would get bites. It was cool being able to float over that spot in the yak and use the FF to see exactly where the fish-hole is!

Thanks for all the welcomes. I'm sure I'll meet plenty of you in the coming months as me and Kenny get on the water.

My wife isn't angry, she's just very jealous, she loves fishing. Now I have to get her a yak and a bigger apartment to keep them both in. And a bigger car to transport them with.

Old and suffering from the results of poor cosmetic enhancement. Maybe I'll call it Kenny Rogers.

Hahaha! More like Suzanne Summers! (at least you didn't name it Jacko).

Ya, those old Drifters sit low in the water. For lake fishing, get some scupper plugs. The kayak will take on much less water AND it'll paddle 50X faster. Plus, they're like the cheapest accessories you'll have to buy.
I see a LOT of "stuff" on the deck in that first picture. That might have caused it to ride even lower than usual.

The tankwell in the back is an odd shape/size. It was hard to find a box to fit in there. But I eventually settled on a file-storage box from Target. Added some pvc rod holders and installed new brass hinges and its good to go. I'll send you some pics.

Great first report. Way to pop your "cherryak" Hey, I just made up a new word!
Looking forward to some more entertaining reports in the future. Another PFIC convert...way to take it to the HNL (hull nutha level)!
See ya on the water,

Congrats on the boat, I like the boats character.  Great read.

Just a warning though, I think Brian G has a patent on the jeans/t-shirt waders.   He reviewed them at La Jolla for some of us.   :smt003  I'll give him credit, they sure do retain water pretty well.  I think he also sported the optional wool jacket. :smt044

See ya on the water.

Having been confessional here a few times myself I appreciated your report. Plugs will change your life but remember that everyone swims eventually, its part of kayaking.

Not intending to assist in Adams jacking attempt but, you guys have that socal style combo on that lake where trout are being planted in the house of the bucketmouth.
Is anyone throwing the trout flavored swimbaits there?

Nice report, and you have a way with words.

Welcome.

I have a Drifter, too, and yep...  You won't mind so much in the summer.  I wear a bathing suit or shorts then.

See you on the water!

I guess I can't really embarrass myself any further, so I can reveal that I actually have scupper plugs; they came with the kayak. Their use in lakes was explained to me when I bought the kayak. Sensible Brain was listening, but Fishing Brain was already dreaming of getting towed around by a big bat ray.

I did take a lot of stuff as well; Fishing Brain isn't very practical, he cares only about maximising his fish-catching options. Did I need 8 different types of power bait and 10 different rapalas? Nope. Just a tub of night crawlers and some split shot.

Pics would help, thanks. I have been rooting round for a milk crate to fit, as it seems I will not be a true NCKA-er until I have a milk crate, but I have had no luck. There are a bunch of empty file storage boxes in the office next to me. I think they need liberating.

RE: milk crates = I have 5 different types of crates (for 3 kayaks) and NONE of them fit in that dang Drifter tankwell. That’s why I came up with the file storage box. Plus, it has a locking lid (in case I decide to bail in the surf) and a handle on top (easy to carry). Most of the file storage containers I found were too flimsy, this one is rated to like 20lbs.
