OK, this post is somewhat akin to getting a tsunami warning by bulk mail - not very timely.  But i'm gonna post it anyway so I can clear the pics from my SD card.

I had two weeks off in July so Chuck offered to go fishing with me anywhere on my wishlist of places to hit.  There was somewhat of a hot bite at Moss at the time so I figured we'd try to hit it midweek.  Bag a king, and we'd look like champs.

Well, there were tons of bait, humpbacks, tourboats.  Conditions were as nice as I've ever seen.  Flat, clean water, no wind or swell to speak of, and foggy.  We started by mooching out past the mile buoy where we got into a ferocious mack attack, but no salmon (like I actually needed to reiterate that well known fact).  Couple hours of that and we decided to hit up Pajaro pipeline.  Chuck did'nt have the numbers so we just kept paddling north until we could make out some condos.  We never did find the pipeline, but Chuck did catch a nap.  Like I said, very calm.

We put in 14 miles that day.  I was a little sore (mostly my feet) the following day.  All that paddle time made me reflect on how much the sport has changed.  After all, it was during the yahoo group days in 2003 that I bagged a 13 lb king in a group with chuck, joel, stu, kevin, et al fishing solo out of my perception synchro tandem.  The boats, the electronics, the expectations, everything is so different.

I kept a few macks just to try some grilled saba fillets, and carcasses for crawdad bait.  Not bad, although that's not the kind of fish you really want to cook inside the house, know what i mean?  anyway, here come the pics.
