Monterey is looking pretty good for Saturday. Santa Cruz is also possible, depending on reports.
Is bait still around in Monterey?

Hope you slay ‘em wherever you go, Joe. Waiting patiently for you to post the 40-inch halibut pics. I plan to be on a skiff in Santa Cruz with plenty of squid and two radios so I can listen to 16 and 69. Will report on what we see with live baits. If you decide on Santa Cruz and see a shark, swallow and let me know so I can swoop in like Mighty Mouse with the skiff.

Lots of radios have a scan feature that allows you to monitor two or more channels simultaneously. Still a good idea to carry a backup radio.

Santa Cruz last Tuesday was real slow…. Couple small lings and a few tiny RF.  All released.   I did catch a few mackerel and smelt for bait, but the baitfish were minimal and hard to find.
We're gonna need a bigger boat!

Very slow in Monterey for me as well yesterday, but I suck at catching hali so don't read too much into it lol

I also didn't stay very late, like 7am-10:30am, was dead tired and just enjoying myself on the water mostly as there were over a hundred Risso's dolphins jumping around, totally surrounded the kayak at one point. Was so cool!

That's pretty cool. Looks like that guy in the boat was going to shoot them.

I was in Monterey last weekend.
Didn’t end up fishing but knew a few folks who went out on boats.
They reported a lack of bait, but that was out deeper in the salmon grounds.
I’ll kayak fish MB one day but I think I’ll try fort Ross Saturday after watching moo’s video

Good Video Mel. I’m hoping to see them Saturday. JoeDubC, I’ll be out there with three buddies. Warning though, two are brand new to the salt so it will be their first time. You’re welcome to join if you want company.

Do you mean 11? That's the channel that the boaters use.

Joe did you decide on a location? I'm thinking of Monterey tomorrow as well. I've launched from Del Monte before. Let me know if you want to meet up

Actually I'm leaning towards either Timber Cove, HMB or maybe Pacifica now.

Guessing you heard but they are shutting down the East bound lanes of Bayshore freeway this weekend so if heading South you will need to take San Mateo bridge for at least one direction....
