Some Washington waters are closed to the use of scents.
The only waters where you can't use scent are one's with no bait rules. They are pretty few and far between. Stretches of rivers and ponds. Scent rules on the sound and in the blue.

Compa - most of the fish I caught that weekend was on live minnows. The only 3 lures that caught fish were - kast master, shad rap and super duper - non of which had any scent to 'em.

The month before, I was catching catfish with dead chovies.

I'm gonna try scenting next time - especially if the bite is slow.

Buy the cheap plain sponges cut little pieces soak with scent and put on hook before soft plastics holds the scent longer and adds color, like red or orange for injured fish.

I take (eat) fish oil gel caps (since salmon fishing closed a couple of years ago) and wonder if the oil in those would attract fish.   Someone needs to build a lure with a pocket for a capsule with a pin hole in it.
I use scents sometimes (No, on lures!), I can't tell the difference in the catching, but why take chances?

i like the mikes scents. i use alot of the herring oil and sardine oil. just picked up a bottle of the mikes butt juice supposed to work well for bottom fish.

OMG, Z, that would be a killer at Campbell Perc Ponds! :smt044  tooooo funny.

IME, if scent makes a difference, it is much more pronounced in lake fishing.  Compared to saltwater, my last trip to Lucia, Aaron was using an unscented tinsel jig (actually it looked like a feather boa) and he outfished me using a swimbait smeared with herring oil.

Aaaah the perc ponds. Nothing more silly than seeing that place right after it got stocked. :smt044 I swear I was gonna launch my yak out there just to piss off all the bankies.
