GSXIX - Thank you!!

Things are pretty iffy for my attendance right now. My eldest daughter is receiving her PHD in mathematics in Denver on May 17th. I am supposed to be there but i would much rather be fishing with my bros in shelter cove. Formal ceremonial stuff isn't my jam. That said, it is more likely that I will be in Denver that weekend.

You will be greatly missed, brother, but the family's gotta come first. 

Ok, I thought about it. I'm committed in going. Maybe will get my pops and Son to go too see the Beautiful Cove. This will be Great. Thanks Eric for getting this going. I'll be DOWN with operating and doing a Mean taco shack too if Jack  doesn't show or can't do.

More than likely i will be there with my large aluminum kayak.    If weather permits i will donate my catch on friday as i did last year for the Taco shack. Was actually a nice haul. Two limits of hefty blacks fillets. You might have to do a small amount of fine tuning on the clean-up.

I donated a nice lingcod to Dennis Shu last year at the event. What an amazing soup he made with it on top of all the other food around his site and other folks dishes. My favorite part of this get together. Food, friends, fishing.

That definitely added excitement to my day. You handled it like a champ. The crazy thing was as soon as me and mike pulled up, we could see that the sea lion was pulling the kayak and you. No panicking from you. Just catch up to the kayak and such an easy self-rescue from you. So many folks to lend a hand . The hardest thing was cutting fishing line. Which was done quickly.

I have been on the end of a few doozies myself. Dressed for immersion and not panicking have helped in me making it back to shore. I have payed it forward multiple times in aiding with rescue in my kayak as well as my boats. So glad, to be lucky enough to be in the right spots at the right time.

Friendly reminder. Keep your catch out of the water. I actually had a juvenile sea lion bump my kayak as well as try and board the back of my kayak looking for fish. At Shelter. Was a blessing i had put my catch near my pedal drive. Which i never do.

I haven't been here on the site for a couple of months and I knew I was missing something.
I'll begin working on seeing how I might make my attendance work. Last year's event was a highlight of my entire season.

I remember one of the early GS's, I have a photo of Etienne on the water and there's snow up on King's Peak.  Granted, it's at 4000', but, yeah, it snows right down toward the Cove at times.
