Yeah it was bycatch…..I always bring a 30 wide to the beach and lock it up in a stand up harness and fighting belt to catch perch.

Yeah it was bycatch…..I always bring a 30 wide to the beach and lock it up in a stand up harness and fighting belt to catch perch.

and the steel leader... you know how those striper teeth can be.  And you know how it goes... big bait big fish... that's why I always rig up an 8/0 hook for surfperch to weed out the little guys.

I noticed this as well, also the shark had a tag imbedded in its back side.  I sent the info over to a few folks I know in the white shark research community.  I know they have sharks identified by color variation and unique marks or injuries on their dorsal and caudal fin.

That looks like similar in size to the one that tried to get my stringer and that Mabel wanted to jump on in HMB. Illegal to target Great Whites but they could claim they are going for Threshers.

Got to give him the benefit of the doubt.   He might target Thresher or other toothy species that need steel leader and big hook.
