Thanks for sharing Dale.  I am with Kaiser for 20+ years and will continue with them if possible.   I already talked to several friends who still there since I left KLA.  Looking forward to work with them again until my final retirement.

I'm in the process of planning to retire to the Philippines by end of this year. With over 7000 islands, I'm sure I'll be close to the ocean.

I've been calculating and I only need to be have $1500 a month to maintain the same lifestyle I have here, as long as I live outside of Manila and it's surrounding cities. Healthcare insurance is almost not very good but healthcare costs are very low. I was born there but I read somewhere that Philippines offered retirement visas to foreigners.

I may still keep some remote work but I'll have to see. I haven't fished lately because my kayaks and most of my gear are packed away already.

Congrats on your impending retirement.  I plan to visit the PI sometime in the next 3 years, and partake of the archipelago.

There are some really important timing issues around when to sign up for Medicare and the Advantage plans. Make sure you look into that at least 3 months before you turn 65, unless of course you're already there.

Congrats on your upcoming retirement!  How are you planning on shipping your kayaks and gear out there?

I have a 20ft shipping container to ship most of my personal belongings including two Revos.

Sonny, welcome back to the workforce. Isn't that going to cut into your fishing days? LOL!

I planned on being retired this month. About 5 months ago they started recruiting for my position, and I noticed the new salary being offered was $20,000 more than my current wage. The higher wage plus not being sure what I would do, as I can only fish, and forage mushrooms a limited amount. I submitted a cover letter, resume, and went through the interview process. I placed first, was offered my job, and accepted. My new target retirement date is now July1, 2026. During that time I need to figure out some more things to do.
