SWS 9/29/07

 Launched with Kimo at 6:45.  Easy launch, but outside it was fairly bouncy with mixed steep swell, wouldn't have gone to the Pinnacles if it was open. Nice and clear.  A little wind from the east.  We stayed inside the kelp for the most part, and fishing was slow (full moon? swell?) so I went for my lunch bag and my reel went off with a big hit on my diamond bar with squid skirt and tipped with squid. Turned out to be a 27" ling, which I might not have kept on better day, but it felt like a much bigger fish on the way up. We got some small rf and a couple of better sized ones, then the wind came up from the west about 11 and we headed back and picked up a few better rockies on the troll. Landed about 12:30, not much beach left with the high tide.
 Saw some yaks turn off at Monterey on the way down -how were conditions there?  A medium (10-15) wind when I went by on the way home.

We experienced slow fishing on the Monterey side of the Peninsula too so maybe the moon did have something to do with it.

I might have seen you driving north on 1 at the Marina exit around 1:30. I was driving next to a green prowler on a sedan for a while. Tried to give em the thumbs up because it looked like a fishing yak.

That was me in the dark - and I beat Kimo, not easy to do.  You had the yak on crooked on the truck rack, I flashed my lights at you.

I think that was me with the crooked yak on a blue truck.  I tie down to my lumber rack, and pull it to the sides for stability.  Of course that means that the bow being thinner, the yak is on crooked.  I though the flash was to tell me it was safe to change lanes, like truckers do!
