These worked best for me (using peanut butter). I would pull almost a rat a day at some points in the summer (near engine block, and also some near wheels)

Plus I would also leave the car hood cracked open at night with driveway light on, seemed to deter the rodents as well. I would also spray grandpa gus all over, which im not sure worked but couldn't hurt.

Having a small rat terrior i'm afraid to use traps unless I can enclose them somehow so she doesn't get in them.  Any suggestions on how to do that? I had some limited success with bait traps that I put inside a cardboard box and cut a hole that a rat would easily fit though, but after a few nibbles they stopped eating it.

One of the local rodent guys up here (TJ) makes small boxes just as you described.  He uses those any time he needs to do outdoor trapping.  He swears by dried cranberries (craisins) as bait because you can form it around the trigger and they have to pull at it to get the bait and that results in a high trigger rate.

Thanks for that  We have a big bag of craisons that weren’t getting eaten

Funny how the rats bring out the sadistic part of ones nature

Squirrel made itself collateral damage today on a Victor trap so first kill but wrong rodent. Pretty sure they’re doing some damage living in our roof

Rats don’t seem to have returned under the hood so poison might be working

Was pulling weeds in the yard garden area when I came upon this guy... do I saute w/ butter? I considered letting it go thinking it might be rodent eater, but nah most likely a dangerous critter to be around... guessing it's a rattlesnake. Does it mean there's likely more around? Never had an issue w/ snakes being around that i know of. Neighbor has one of those tiny dogs.

Dang, viper head no rattle, I hear them youngin's don't know how to control their venom release.  If you chop off his head it can still get ya'.  Code word on the trail at family camp on a hike is "shovel"...

I use the victor traps, but use whole roasted peanuts in the shell. Have had plenty of triggers loaded with butter licked clean but no spring. On the trap, slightly raise the prong on the trigger and you can pierce the shell of the whole nut for a snug hold. They will really need to tug on the nut to get it off. You can smear the butter on the shell for added scent.
First couple of nights, don’t arm the trap. Let them get comfortable swiping the nuts. After two nights in a row of taken bait, set the hammer.
Ratzilla here was giving me the middle finger from the trap and I needed the BB gun to finish the job.

I’ll try the peanut Tally so far is two bushy tail rodents and one bird. Other traps are sprung but empty

Amazing how crafty these f’ers are

Good news is they were ignoring the poison bait under the hood but now it’s finally getting eaten

I now have visitors coming for my rats...

I'd like to have some of those visitors. I'd be a bit concerned that they might get stuck in my squirrel trap, which has caught a smallish skunk in the past...
Are you pondering what I’m pondering?
