…ate through (so far) about $4k worth of wiring harness on my wife’s car, I had to talk the insurance co out of totaling the car. There is likely more damage that just hasn’t been discovered. Now the little mf’s are living under the hood of my car too

I’ve set out the old fashioned victor traps which they somehow trigger without getting caught

Today I’m putting out poison and more traps but wondering if anyone has successfully done war with them and any pointers

Should be a rent-a-tomcat service

They hate that for some reason

It’s a shame you can’t be there to watch it happen

Have had success w/ the tom cat snap traps. Wider trigger footprint area and more sensitive possibly

Was told that if you have a yard... hang a dead rodent up to feed and attract prey birds  :smt003

I put tomcat poison under the hood

Local hardware only had Victor snap traps and an electric version

I’ll give repellants a try after I have the satisfaction of seeing some dead rats

Best thing I ever did was start feeding the neighbor's cats. They've come to enjoy hanging out on my property and I've appreciated their rodent extermination services. A couple of kitty poops on my mulch piles ain't so bad after all...

I’ve been at war with rodents since we moved into our current house about 15 years ago. If you find something that works, let me know!

Having said that, my strategy is to always have a few traps set and baited, moving them around a bit, so that those smart critters don’t get too accustomed to them. Those serve to monitor the situation. Then, whenever a couple of rodents show up in the traps, I go all-in with the big guns (poison, and a ton more traps). My belief is that you need to get (virtually) all of them, and all at once, or you are wasting your time, as you’re only seeing the tip of the iceberg in the snap-traps.
I don't like stuff that sucks.

I've had really good luck with the TomCat brand rat traps (black plastic) baited with dog food (dry) or peanut butter
The Victor Electric traps work well too - and you get a ping when it has tripped
if you need to knock down an infestation fast - poison

then you gotta figure out what brought them in - usually food - dog food in bags or even bins really attracts them.

always keep some traps baited, and check them regularly - keep them near walls

good hunting!

I had about 6 huge rats that were scampering across my fence outside my side garage door, when a neighbor tore down a old wooden shed.

I would open the side door quickly and was nailing them with a pellet rifle. I must say I got pretty good. I hit one off the hip like John Wayne!

I have a yard with free ranging chickens.  The last thing I would want would be to have birds of prey hanging around.  My rooster does a good job of alerting his girls when ever a hawk or even harmless vultures are close by.  Back on subject, Tomcat Rodent Blocks solved my rat problem.

I"m scared to see what they did to my VW GTI.  For sure they were living the bumper, my dog would let me know on every walk about 3 months ago.  Haven't driven it since I need tires, so just dont know the extent of damage yet.  :smt009
