A bit confused about the season opening date, is it 4/1 or 5/1 in Santa Cruz, HMB, Monterey area.

Santa Cruz and Monterey are in the Central area and the season opens May 1 any depth.

Here's a link to the CDFW map to get info about any area:
https://wildlife.ca.gov/Fishing/Ocean/Regulations/Fishing-Map

Here's a link to a PDF with a summary for the Central area:

HMB is in the San Francisco area and it opens July 16 any depth. It opens May 15 at depths >300 ft as defined by the line of points in the regulations but it's pretty far offshore for a kayak in the SF area.

Here's a link to a PDF with a summary for the SF area:

Also you can't take nearshore rockfish as listed in the regulations when the season is only open at >300 ft.

Someone posted a great Google map with the 300 ft line so you can but I don't have the link handy.

Has anyone kayak fished the 50 fathom line?  Sketchy unless you’re off Monterey I guess.
